Jose Aldo’s mother comments on the knockout loss to Conor McGregor

Watching a son or daughter go to war in a mixed martial arts bout is probably as nerve-racking a sporting event could get for a parent. Jose Aldo’s mother Rocilene Souza typically does not watch her son fight when the cage door closes, according to Bloody Elbow. Unfortunately, the fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor at UFC 194 was so quick that she didn’t get to leave in time.

“It all happened so quickly. It happened while I was still leaving,” She told Globo Esporte Manaus (transcribed by Bloody Elbow). “Anything can happen in the UFC. I hope he doesn’t get too sad, because good things will come after this. This is just another learning experience. He is not the first one who loses. That’s the way it is. It’s part of being a champion and of being a fighter. You fight, and when you fight, you win or you lose.”

Will we see Jose Aldo come back and rise back to the top from his first loss in over ten years? Or is this the beginning of the collapse of one of the sport’s greatest champions?
