Maia vs. Shields Likely For Fall UFC Event

A welterweight clash between, grappling standouts, Demian Maia and Jake Shields is reportedly in the works for an upcoming UFC event this fall.

‘UFC Tonight’ on FUEL TV confirmed the bout last night.

Demian Maia is currently riding high on a three-fight win streak following his drop to the UFC’s welterweight division. The former middleweight title challenger has bested the likes of Rick Story, Dong Hyun Kim and Jon Fitch to cement himself as a top 10 170 pounder and put him on the path to a title shot.

For Shields, after a scary stint of back-to-back losses to GSP and Jake Ellenberger he has bounced back and put himself on a nice little run. His most recent victory came in June when he beat Tyron Woodley via split decision.

A date or venue was not disclosed to the public and as of right now only verbal agreements are in place for this fight.
