Manager: CM Punk Is Man Enough to take a Chance & Fight in the UFC
Phil “CM Punk” Brooks broke both the professional wrestling and mixed martial arts worlds when he announced his signing in December of 2014. Details surrounding his first fight have been scarce, but rumors are circulating around a middleweight debut.
His former manager in WWE and one of his best friends Paul Heyman recently appeared on the “Steve Austin Unleashed” podcast and talked about Punk’s venture into MMA.
“I don’t think money is the motivating factor in CM Punk’s life whatsoever. I think it’s the challenge to do this.”
Punk has made a ridiculous amount of money while wrestling for the World Wrestling Entertainment before he walked away from it in 2014. Punk has been looking at fighting professionally for quite some time and it was no secret that he has been a fan through his wrestling style and many appearances at UFC events.
“This is something he’s been eyeballing since he was a kid and I think he looks back and he probably regrets not getting into it five or six years earlier, but this was the time to pull the trigger on it.” Heyman continued, “He’s man enough to walk in there and take his chances.”
“I think he firmly believes he is either going to step in that Octagon and shock everybody by beating somebody’s ass or he’s going to get punched in the face and knocked out or tapped out and beat up and I think that he’s very accepting of the fact that that’s a possibility,” Heyman said.
