Manager: ‘Jacare’ vs. Romero For Number 1 Spot Makes Sense
Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza is coming off a dominant victory over Chris Camozzi in April in a fight that lasted just over two minutes. Camozzi wasn’t “Jacare’s” original opponent however; Yoel Romero was forced to pull out of the fight last minute due to an injury.
Now, both “Jacare” and Romero’s stock is as high as ever and a match between the two could very well set the next contender to the UFC Middleweight Championship.
“As far as next opponent, it can be Weidman, Rockhold or Romero,” Souza’s manager, Gilberto Faria, told MMA Fighting. “All I can say Jacare will be the next UFC middleweight champion.” With Chris Weidman set to defend his championship against Luke Rockhold in the near future, it is likely that Romero and “Jacare” will face off.
“He is back on training,” Faria said, “and he will be ready to go by September.”
With a return set for this fall, would a match with Yoel Romero make sense? Who would win? Share your prediction in the comment section below!
