Marion Reneau Wanted To Make A Statement By Submitting Jessica Andrade
On the preliminary card of “UFC Fight Night: Porto Alegre” Marion Reneau extended her UFC record to 2-0, extending her professional win streak to 5.
In the process she dropped Jessica Andrade’s UFC record to 3-2. Reneau went into the fight a heavy underdog, but was determined to make a statement, not only with a win, but with a submission win.
She explained at the post-fight press conference:
“It was a good fight. It was super important for me to show my jiu-jitsu. There was a comment made where my brown belt was mentioned as equal to her blue belt, and I had to show it that this didn’t make any sense.
“I am a legitimate brown belt. My brown belt can’t match your blue, ever.”
Reneau also spoke about who she would like to fight next.
“Whoever the UFC has me fight, that’s who I’m going to fight, but there’s one thing that you should never do: You should never count anybody out. Never count a victory before you have your victory.”
