McGregor’s coach: If Conor lost, I’d be treated like Rousey’s coach
While Conor McGregor ultimately defeated Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in just 13 seconds, many fans were critical of his head coach John Kavanagh leading up to the fight.
According to Kavanagh, the footage used in the UFC’s Embedded vlog series didn’t show the full picture of what went down in McGregor’s training camp leading up to the fight, and caused unnecessary panic among fans.
In addition, many fans were critical of McGregor’s movement work with Ido Portal leading up to the fight, something Kavanagh suggested.
He spoke on The MMA Hour to discuss Conor McGregor’s movement training, and why MMA fans would have turned their back on him had McGregor lost.
“Apparently I’m a genius now that this was my idea, but if he’d have lost, I’d have gotten poor Ronda Rousey’s coach’s treatment. I would have been the worst human being on the planet. That’s MMA fans. They’re a fickle bunch.”
