Medical Suspensions Report: ‘UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier’ Edition
Thirteen UFC 182 fighters have been served with mandatory suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for injuries sustained while in combat.
Topping the list is a set of four athletes who could be out up to six-months for various ailments. Nate Marquardt,Louis Gaudinot, Paul Felder, and Cody Garbrandt will need medical clearance to return to active competition before the six-months is up.
UFC 182 took place this past Saturday from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event featured an evening headliner between champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. Jones retained his world title, receiving a unanimous decision victory.
The full list of medical suspensions is as follows:
Daniel Cormier: Suspended 30 days (14 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Nate Marquardt: Suspended 180 days for possible right-ankle injury. Minimum suspension 30 days (21 days no contact) for right-cheek laceration.
Louis Gaudinot: Suspended 180 days for possible left-hand injury. Minimum suspension 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Josh Burkman: Suspended 21 days (14 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Danny Castillo: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Paul Felder: Suspended 180 days for possible right-foot injury. Minimum suspension 14 days (10 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Cody Garbrandt: Suspended 180 days for possible right-hand injury. Minimum suspension 21 days (14 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Marcus Brimage: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Jared Cannonier: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Shawn Jordan: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for right-eyebrow laceration.
Rodrigo Damm: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
Omari Akhmedov: Suspended pending MRI to follow/track arachnoid cyst by Jan. 3, 2017.
Alexis Dufresne: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons.
