Miesha Tate is tired of being ‘pushed around’ by the UFC

By BJPENN.COM News - September 21, 2015

No matter what their rank is, every woman in the Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight division wants an opportunity to dethrone Ronda Rousey of her throne. While they will gain the championship, their stock will rise tenfold just for beating the most popular fighter the octagon has to offer now. While women like Holly Holm are undoubtedly deserving of the opportunity, one woman was told by her boss she was next in line.

Miesha Tate dominated Jessica Eye in July at “UFC on FOX 17” in front of a national audience to secure her fourth victory in a row. She showed evolution in her game and a newfound aggression that seemed to be missing in her past two fights with Ronda Rousey. During the post fight press conference, UFC President Dana White mentioned that Tate was next in line for Rousey.

Rousey caught the world off guard when she announced on “Good Morning America” that she would be fighting Holly Holm instead. The fight is set to take place at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia.

Tate seems to be fed up with empty promises and is looking to get everything her bosses say in writing, as she doesn’t trust their word anymore. “I don’t know. I am in a very awkward stage in my career right now, where I don’t know what is the best next step for me, but I know that I am not gonna be pushed around by anybody,” she told Ground and Pound TV.

“More things have to be contractually agreed upon, instead of verbally,” Tate continued. “That’s what happens when you can’t come to a verbal trust point. I’m gonna have to have things written down from now on.”

What do you think is next for Miesha Tate? Should she follow in the footsteps of Phil Davis and Josh Thomson by going to Bellator, or should she put her foot down and make some demands with the UFC? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
