“Mighty Mouse” Pulls In Low PPV Buys for UFC 186
UFC 186 fell victim to several card changes. The event was supposed to host two championship defenses, but TJ Dillashaw suffered an injury that forced him off the card and Demetrious Johnson was bumped up to the main-event. While he was fighting a talented opponent in Kyoji Horiguchi, they hardly have enough star-power to replace the rematch between Dillashaw and Barao.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that UFC 186 pulled in between 100,000 and 125,000 PPV buys.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was also pulled off the card just weeks before the event was about to take place after an injunction from Bellator was granted. However, Jackson was allowed back on the pay-per-view just four days before the card took place which confused several fans after they already got their refunds.
Direct TV also pulled out as a partner of UFC, which meant 14,000,000 less potential customers.
Is “Mighty Mousee” to blame for the poor draw or is it the fact that the card was cursed in the first place? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
