‘Mighty Mouse’ Wants Vegas Fight: ‘It’s Foolish Not To Fight There’ Because Of Diaz
To date and announced publicly, three UFC fighters have stated that they will refuse to fight in Nevada following the NSAC’s controversial five year suspension they gave UFC fighter Nick Diaz.
Those fighters include Henry Cejudo, Leslie Smith and Aljamain Sterling. One fighter who will definitely not be joining that group is UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.
On Wednesday’s episode of UFC Tonight it was announced that the champ is looking to return to action and wants to fight on the Feb. 5 card scheduled in Las Vegas.
Mighty Mouse took it a step further and said he doesn’t understand why anyone would boycott because of the Diaz suspension.
“I think it’s foolish for fighters not to fight in Vegas because of someone else’s fault.”
It’s probably a fair assessment to say that he won’t be earning a bunch of new fans with that statement, but hey, it really seems these days that Johnson could give two sh*ts about how the fans feel about him.
On the other hand, this brings up an interesting possible scenario. Cejudo has been tagged as a possible title challenger and if that comes true then he might have to decide if he wants a title shot, or wants to stick to his word.
What do you guys think?
