Nam Phan vs. Vaughan Lee set for TUF China Finale, tournament final bouts announced
UFC officials announced today that a bantamweight bout between Nam Phan (18-12 MMA, 2-5 UFC) and Vaughan Lee (13-9-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) is set for the “TUF: China Finale.”
The former “TUF 12” cast member, Nam Phan, will likely be fighting for his job when he faces Lee on March 1 in Macao, China. After going 2-4 in the UFC’s featherweight division, Phan decided to drop down a weight class to bantamweight. Unfortunately for Nam, his 135-pound debut proved unsuccessful, as he was defeated by Takeya Mizugaki at December’s “UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Silva” event in Australia.
Phan’s newly announced opponent, Vaughan Lee, will also be looking to get back in the win column this March, as his last bout ended in a submission defeat at the hands of Raphael Assuncao at June 2013’s “UFC on FUEL TV” event in Brazil. Prior to that, Lee defeated Motonobu Tezuka at last February’s “UFC on FUEL TV” event in London.
The tournament final bouts from the “TUF China” show were also announced, as Wang Sai (6-4 MMA) will meet Zhang Lipeng (6-7-1 MMA) in the welterweight final, and Yang Jianping (6-3-1 MMA) will collide with Ning Guangyou (3-2-1 MMA) in the featherweight finale bout.
The’ TUF China: Finale’ takes place on March 1 live from The Venetian at Macao’s CotaiArena. The event will be streamed for viewing live on UFC Fight Pass.
