Kelvin Gastelum vs. Tyron Woodley set for UFC 183 co-main event
A key welterweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Tyron Woodley will co-main event January’s UFC 183 event in Las Vegas.
UFC officials announced the booking yesterday.
Undefeated welterweight Kelvin Gastelum (10-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) was most recently seen in action at this past weekend’s UFC 180 event in Mexico, where he scored a first-round submission victory over Jake Ellenberger. That victory earned Gastelum a “Performance of the night” bonus and extended his undefeated streak to ten.
Meanwhile, Tyron Woodley (14-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) is coming off a first-round TKO victory over Dong Hyun Kim, which he earned at August’s UFC Fight Night event in Macau, China. Prior to that, “T-Wood” suffered a tough decision loss to Canadian standout Rory MacDonald at June’s UFC 174 event in Vancouver.
UFC 183 takes place January 31 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a middleweight bout featuring former UFC champion Anderson Silva taking on former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz.
