Oliveira Released From Hospital With No Major Injuries
Look like UFC featherweight Charles Oliveira is on his way to recovery. In a statement released by the UFC, the promotion states that Oliveira was released from the hospital and will be traveling home.
All tests for major chest, neck or throat injuries came back negative. The statement also said that he will be going to a follow up appointment at his local physician.
Oliveira was taken away on a stretcher after his brief fight with Max Holloway this past Sunday. During the fight Oliveira went for a takedown, failed, then stood back up and grabbed his collarbone area and backed up towards the cage. The referee stopped the fight and gave Holloway the TKO win. Oliveira was taken to the hospital and it was reported that he had a torn esophagus.
According to the statement from the UFC, their were no major injures.
“UFC featherweight Charles Oliveira has been released from medical care in Saskatoon today and will be traveling home tomorrow. Preliminary test results for major chest, neck or throat injuries were negative and Oliveira will have a follow up appointment with his local physician upon returning home. Oliveira is in good spirits and appreciates the support he’s received from his fans during this time.”
