OUCH! UFC Matchmaker told Gadelha he wouldn’t ‘Miesha Tate’ her

Talk about pouring salt on an open wound…

When Joanna Jedrzejczyk was awarded the split decision win over Claudia Gadelha back in 2014, many wondered when we would see a rematch.

According to Claudia Gadelha, she could get her rematch with Jedrzejczyk after ‘Joanna Champion’ fights Valerie Letourneau at UFC 193 this Saturday, if Joanna wins.

She spoke to media members:

“I wanted to fight this year, but I decided to wait because the UFC wants me to fight in February. They gave me this date. I’ll be in Australia next week for Joanna vs. Valerie and they told me whoever wins will be my next opponent.”

“I spoke with Sean (Shelby) and he told me in English, ‘I don’t wanna Miesha Tate you.’ My case is totally different than Miesha’s because she lost twice and they don’t want to do a third fight, and my fight with Joanna was different. She didn’t finish me, and she wants this fight too. It’s completely different. I believe this fight will happen now.”

If this is in fact what UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby said, that would be quite harsh.

Miesha Tate has been understandably upset given that she was snubbed for a title fight against Ronda Rousey, and has even gone as far as to say that she would contemplate retirement if she is unable to fight Rousey again.
