UFC welterweights Matt Brown and Kelvin Gastelum are set to square off at the UFC’s next trip to Mexico, on Nov. 21. The two will headline the event, which will serve as the TUF Latin America 2 Finale. It will be Gastelum’s return to welterweight after a short stint at middleweight. A stint that was forced on him by UFC president Dana White. Gastelum had issues making weight several times and was eventually kicked out of the division and forced to move up.

The topic of MMA legalization in New York is a hot one. Currently, professional MMA is illegal in the state, which leads to unregulated amateur events. The UFC has worked extensively every year to get pro regulated MMA legalized, but as of this year, they have failed to do so. In a recent news report done by the I-Team at NBC’s 4 New York station, it has been discovered that at least one fighter has fought in one of those unregulated bouts, with HIV.

Well, here’s what could end up being the first of many. In light of the recent five year suspension handed to Nick Diaz by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, top UFC flyweight and olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo has stated that he will refuse to fight in Nevada moving forward. The suspension has been a massive topic in the MMA world for the past few days, with just about every fighter you could think of coming forward with their thoughts, mostly in support of Diaz.

Former UFC lightweight champion, Benson Henderson, will be making the move up to welterweight, again, for his next fight against Thiago Avles at UFC Fight Night 79 on Nov. 28, in Seoul, South Korea. Before that, Henderson competed at ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship 2015, which took place in Brazil.

The UFC held a press conference in Melbourne, Australia yesterday to promote the pre-sale of UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm. The bantamweight champ and her challenger were in attendance, as well as the co-main event fighters, UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and challenger Valérie Létourneau.

UFC flyweight Jussier Formiga is set to take on a big name and a tough opponent in olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo. The two will meet when the UFC returns to Mexico once again, on Nov. 21. Formiga knows that he’s going in as the underdog, and that all the hype is behind Cejudo, who is expected to challenge for a title in the near future, if he gets passed Formiga.

UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett was apparently scheduled to face off against former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen at the next Metamoris event, according to Sonnen. Well, Barnett isn’t sure what he’s talking about and says there is no contract at this time. But, he did say he wouldn’t mind giving Sonnen a free grappling lesson.

The new season of The Ultimate Fighter is currently running on the air, with a new episode set to debut on Wednesday night. The first episode was a smash success, with rating going through the roof. A question a lot of fans had, leading up to the premiere, was just how the dynamic between coaches Urijah Faber and Conor McGregor play out. We had that strange altercation backstage at UFC 189, which took place right before they were announced as coaches. Then since then we’ve had interviews and what not, that added little more fuel to the fire. But ultimately, when the show premiered, we saw a light hearted and more respectful banter between the two. Sure, they’re still taking jabs at each other, but Faber and Conor have said several times recently that they got along fine.

UFC 183 was a huge event. In a fight many never thought we would see, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva took on former Strikeforce welterweight champ Nick Diaz. Two of the very best strikers in MMA. It was also a big deal because it was Silva’s return, following his devastating leg break from that second Chris Weidman fight. The fight was massive.

We have yet to hear a comment from the UFC regarding Monday’s NSAC hearing, where Nick Diaz was suspended for five years and fined $165,000 for his failed drug test. We’ve already heard from just about every fighter out there, with social media blowing up with #FreeNickDiaz shortly after the news came out.

Nick Diaz was handed a highly controversial suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday. They gave him a five year suspension and fined him $165,000 for his failed drug test from UFC 183. Anderson Silva, who was Diaz’s opponent for UFC 183, also failed his drug tests, except his tested positive for steroids. He received a one year suspension from the commission.
