For as brilliant as Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s striking was, Carla Esparza’s performance left a lot to be desired. She got picked apart throughout the entire fight and she didn’t set up ANY of her takedown attempts. Jedrzejczyk stuffed almost all of the takedowns which meant Esparza was well within striking distance.

This bout was being hyped as the likely winner of “Fight of the Night” for “UFC 185” before the event started, but Hendricks threw Brown a curveball and wrestled his way to a victory.

This was one of Alistair Overeem’s best performances in the octagon. It was a return to form and Roy Nelson was a punching bag he could showcase his arsenal of strikes on. Nelson nearly made a huge come from behind victory in the end of the fight, but Overeem proved his chin and made it to the end of the fight.

Chris Cariaso and Henry Cejudo kicked off “UFC 185” with a busy flyweight bout. Cariaso and Cejudo lived up to the fast-paced style of action flyweights are synonymous for and neither man stopped working to improve their situation. Lucky for Cejudo, his elite wrestling skills gave him the upperhand for almost the entire fight.

Roger Narvaez suffered a broken forearm in the opening round when he blocked one of Elias Theodorou’s high kicks. Theodorou was relentless in his attack and ultimately scored a second round win.

Despite having a rough weight cut, bookies still favored Daron Cruickshank as he entered the octagon tonight. Beneil Dariush not only implemented his gameplan, but he landed better kicks tonight which is usually Cruickshank’s gig!

Germaine de Randamie kicked off “UFC 185” with an amazing display of striking. Even though Larissa Pacheco’s performance left a lot to be desired, the amount of punishment she absorbed was impressive and she showed a great amount of heart.
