Rousey Down To Prove Ali Wrong -- 'She can take me up on that, I'm around'

BJPENN.COM News - March 11, 2015

“If she wants to take me up on that, I’m around. She’s retired and has several kids. I understand why she’d think that because she has a size advantage, but if you saw my last fight it had nothing to do with size or strength at all. That’s not how I beat people. So you can’t count having a size and strength advantage as having a real advantage against me.” “I don’t think it’s a great idea to have a man hitting a woman on television. I’ll never say that I’ll lose, but you could have a girl getting totally beat up on TV by a guy—which is a bad image to put across. With all the football [domestic violence] stuff that’s been happening, not a good idea. It’s fun to theorize about and talk about, but it’s something that’s much better in theory than fact.” Taking to The Daily Beast, UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey chose to respond to Laila Ali’s recent statements that she could take Ronda in a fight (REPLAY).

UFC Heavyweight Says Head Kick Made Him Lose Vision For Weeks

BJPENN.COM News - March 11, 2015

“Instantly everything turned completely white. I was blind in that eye for a couple of a weeks,” he said. “You always think going in there, worst-case scenario you’re going to break a bone or get knocked out or whatever. You don’t really think of losing your eyesight. (Friend and cornerman) Justin Wren basically told me not to lie any more, because in there (the cage) I didn’t want them to call the fight. So I did my best to play off it, (say) that I could see out of it. So that way I could keep fighting and hopefully catch him. I’m a fighter. It’s kind of tough to take an easy way out, I guess. If I was sitting here blind in my left eye right now and you asked me that question, then of course the answer’s going to be yes … but looking back at it now, I was definitely glad I was able to go.”

Belfort on PEDs: 'Everybody's guilty until they're tested'

BJPENN.COM News - March 11, 2015

“I didn’t talk about my fight — as a businessman I was talking about my future. They drug test everybody. Forty-percent (of fighters), they fail drug tests. Forty. That’s a big amount. So now they come with these new rules. These new rules, to work, everybody’s guilty until they’re tested. So if we want to be right, if someone is going to fight for the belt, it doesn’t matter if it’s Vitor Belfort or if it’s Joe Joseph or if it’s Ricardo. It doesn’t matter the name. It should be equal. Everybody has to be treated equal. It doesn’t matter if this is a rule. I’m just talking about what I think is fair. Not about me. Nothing about me. I could pass it everyday, I don’t care. But I’m saying, for something to work, for the future of our sport, everybody has to be treated the same.” UFC middleweight title challenger Vitor Belfort talks about fairness with the UFC’s new drug testing policy.

Celeste: 'It's just one guy thing, to another guy thing'

BJPENN.COM News - March 11, 2015

“I’m on my third season with [Overhaulin’]. Really excited because for the first time I’m on TV hosting. I’m also on ‘MTV Guy Code,’ which just started in January. It shows a little bit more of my personality. There’s a lot of testosterone but it’s still cool to have a backup system. So now, I go from UFC fighting to overhauling cars. So it’s one guy thing to another guy thing. So it’s really cool.”

Matt Brown Wants A 5 Year Ban For PED Users

BJPENN.COM News - March 11, 2015

“My thoughts on the steroid controversy, I’m glad to hear that the UFC is doing things about the steroids. The No. 1 thing to do is harsher penalties. First offense, five-year ban. Yea, that’s going to sway a lot of guys. It’s going to turn a lot of guys away from doing it. You’d have to really, really turn yourself around to be able to come back from that. You’d be forgot about and that’s the way it should be. You should be forgotten about. If you’re going to take steroids you should be forgotten about. If it’s against the rules, it’s against the rules. The fact is it’s cheating. Harsher penalties is the way to go.”
