Esparza Not Happy With UFC's Promotion -- "Is it all about sex sells?"
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“To be honest, I don’t think our specific fight is being promoted as much as it should be. It is what it is. I’m gonna just keep winning fights and then those things will come. I’m not really too focused on that. I guess I can look at it in a positive or a negative way. I can look at it as, ‘Hey great, females are getting on the card for whatever reason.’ And it’s a business. But at the same time, I can look at it in a negative way and say ‘Hey, it’s a business, so does that mean it’s all about sex sells, promoting yourself as that?’ So, I try not to focus too much on that. I’m just happy for my friend. Maybe if it was somebody else in that fight, I wouldn’t be as happy, but it’s all good.” UFC Strawweight champion Carla Esparza is pulling no punches when talking about her role in the co-main event slot of next week’s UFC 185 event.

Luke Rockhold: 'After Machida It's The Title'
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“You always think and you always dream. I know what I want, and I believe it’s ahead of me. I believe I’m the best fighter in the world. He’s able to frustrate people. He’s able to use his footwork. He’s very quick. He moves around and he frustrates people, and they get overanxious and try to attack. I’ve just got to stay within myself. There’s no secret. He’s right behind you. He’s listening (literally) .I’m going to hunt him down. … I’m going to put him in a bad space and make him fight my fight. I’m going to make him think about everything I’m going to do. I think I’m better than him everywhere. It’s a different stylistic matchup. He hasn’t fought a southpaw like me that can hit hard like me, kick hard, kick with him, punch with him – I can do everything, and I believe I can do everything better. This is what it is. People can talk, but there’s nothing left after this for me except for the title.”

BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015

Renan Barao: 'Dillashaw's Way Too Cocky, He'll See What Happens'
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“He’s boasting a lot about himself and this is not going to be good for him in the fight. He’s way too cocky. He just got the belt. He thinks he’s already defended the belt against me and he’s speaking about fighting other people. He’ll see what happens. Just wait.” “I learned a lot (from the first fight). We have studied a lot with my team in all the fields of fighting. I’ve been training very hard for this fight. It’s a very different situation now. I want to be the champion again – I’m very eager to get the belt back. I have lot of confidence after my last victory and I’m excited to fight and get this belt once again.”

UFC's Leslie Smith Talks About Her Fight With Depression, And Staying Positive
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“I get depressed some times. And it will get really, really rough for a little while … I’ll get really depressed, and I’ll be like ‘Oh, man, this is not the way to be.’ And it’s so hard to break free of that sometimes, because nothing makes you feel anything – you don’t fee good, everything is bad, and it’s really hard to look at the bright side, even when you’re trying.

Miocic: 'I'll bring a pillow to Mark Hunt Fight'
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“You know it’s business man. I understand he wants to get the win, so do I. I mean he’s going to do whatever he’s going to do and I’m going to do whatever I’m going to do to win. So like I said, I’ll bring a pillow if he wants me to, I mean it’s all good man. Listen there ain’t no hard feelings towards him. You know he seems like a nice guy, shook his hand and everything, but listen man at the end of the day it’s business and I’m here to fight.” “I’m not trying to get hit with a lot of big shots, you know (Laughs). I know he hits hard, [I’m going to] just keep my distance, you know do my thing. Whatever I work on I’m going to do in the fight and then I’m going to win the fight. I don’t care what’s going to happen. I’m going to win that fight. I’m going to get my hand raised at the end of the night.” “It’s Mixed Martial Arts man, I don’t care where it goes. I’m going to win every aspect of that game.”

Cowboy: 'When I get that belt, I can really "F" Off'
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“I stay training year-round. I don’t really have a camp. I don’t do an eight-week or 12-week camp. I just keep going all the time. That way, if I’m sore or I’m tired and want to go snowmobiling for a week? I just go.” “I think I have an understanding with the UFC and they kind of just let me do it because I come to fight and I don’t get injured. And, if I do get injured, I still fight. I feel that me doing that is who I am. So, I have to go crazy and rock climb and go snowmobiling. I do have a bet with (UFC President Dana White) that 10 days prior to an event, I will not do any activities, and that’s my word, so I won’t do that. It sucks because Memorial Day weekend, we’re fighting. That’s prime f-cking wakeboarding conditions. I’ll have my boat and I’ll be able to pull everybody and I’ll just be watching.” “Am I worried about not taking this fight serious? No, I’m taking it super serious. Then, when I get the belt and I get my money, I can really f-ck off.”

Esparza Not Looking For More Than 3 Fights Per Year
BJPENN.COM News - March 8, 2015
“When I heard about Joanna, I actually heard about it the next day because she literally fought Claudia the day after I fought. So, it was already in my head that that was going to be my next fight. So I was just like, ‘Alright, I don’t want to think too much about her.’ But, I knew that she had great takedown defense, she has great striking. I mean, she knocked down Claudia in the first round and I’ve seen her knock down some other people. So, she’s definitely someone I feel could knock me out and I definitely want to impose my will in this fight and take it where I want it to go.” “I would defend my title two, at most three times a year. Two because each camp for me isn’t just a straight six-to-eight week camp where it’s ‘OK, just start training.’ I like to have a couple months to just train without that pressure on me. “It’s not like I don’t want to be training. I want to be training, I want to be growing, I want to be trying different things, training in the gi. When I’m getting ready for a fight, it’s more about focusing on someone specific and a specific gameplan.”
