Jose Aldo's mother comments on the knockout loss to Conor McGregor

Russell Ess - December 15, 2015

Watching a son or daughter go to war in a mixed martial arts bout is probably as nerve-racking a sporting event could get for a parent. Jose Aldo’s mother Rocilene Souza typically does not watch her son fight when the cage door closes, according to Bloody Elbow. Unfortunately, the fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor at UFC 194 was so quick that she didn’t get to leave in time. “It all happened so quickly. It happened while I was still leaving,” She told Globo Esporte Manaus (transcribed by Bloody Elbow). “Anything can happen in the UFC. I hope he doesn’t get too sad, because good things will come after this. This is just another learning experience. He is not the first one who loses. That’s the way it is. It’s part of being a champion and of being a fighter. You fight, and when you fight, you win or you lose.”

Conor "The Notorious" McGregor Bank Rolled Estimated at 1.3 Million Per Second!

bjpenndotcom - December 14, 2015

While the majority of Conor McGregor’s paycheck depends mainly on PPV  buy rates (numbers that won’t be reported by UFC officials for several weeks), even the most modest PPV estimates for UFC 194 put the McGregor’s per-second earnings well ahead of the most generous estimates for Ronda Rousey’s record-setting win at UFC 190 against Bethe Correia. In that bout, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion needed just 34 seconds to defeat title challenger Correia. With Rousey getting a percentage share of the 900,000 PPV buys, in addition to $230,000 in fight and sponsor pay, her total earnings were reported as high as $5 million. Using that model, Rousey made almost $200,000 per second.

We win and we lose but ultimately life goes on.” Jose Aldo who was on top of the featherweight division since the division was introduced in the UFC also faced a crushing knockout defeat just a day after Mendes. Interestingly Mendes has also been on the losing end against Aldo twice, with their first fight ending by way of knockout and their second match going the distance.
