“I’ve been in this sport a long time. My friend Jake Shields fought in Rumble on The Rock. He, Carlos Condit, Yushin Okami, Anderson Silva and other fighters. In the same period I was fighting in the UFC and in Japan. I think that we all were fighting at the 175-pound limit and I wanted a lot to be part of that tournament. I have always looked Anderson as a potential opponent but I was focused on the Welterweight division and facing Georges St-Pierre…I have never inspired myself in him but, of course, to me he’s one of the best fighters. I think that this is an exciting bout for him and for the fans.”

“I have a lot of vested interest in that fight and I really have mixed feelings about who I would prefer to win. I think if Zingano beats Rousey, it’s a much faster road to the title for myself so there’s a benefit there for me. The fact that our first fight had a lot of fireworks to it — it was a very exciting fight. I won the first two rounds and I just feel it was stopped too quickly in the third round, but it is what it is. If Cat wins, there’s a big argument why I would get the next title shot. Especially on a three fight win streak if I beat Sara McMann, that puts a huge notch on my belt.” “If Ronda wins, she’s beating all the other girls, so all I have to do is ward off the other No. 1 contenders like I have been. I think I have the best shot at beating her and I think I’ve proven that going into the third round with her. Regardless, it’s always fun for me to fight Ronda. I enjoy it, I thrive on it, because my No. 1 goal is to become the best fighter that I can be and Ronda always pushes me to do that. Every time I think I become a better fighter because of Ronda. She pushes me and motivates me in ways that other people just don’t have the ability to do. She motivates me to be a better fighter and a better person. A stronger fighter and a stronger person. So, I kind of revel in that. It’s something I look forward to and I hope I will have another chance to fight her. I think beating McMann makes a great argument.”

The UFC today announced their inaugural, and much anticipated UFC Fight Night Manila event in partnership with SM Lifestyle Entertainment inc. The first UFC event in Asia of 2015 will take place in Manila on the 16th May 2015 at the city’s destination venue, SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“Nick is being Nick. We don’t know where Nick is. I literally Instagram’ed a picture of him on a milk carton today. He’s M.I.A. First of all, we have a show called UFC Embedded, they showed up there Sunday to start filming him — couldn’t find him. We went through his management team and they set it up, they said ‘what we’ll do is we’ll set up a team dinner, you guys can film at the team dinner.’ “None of them showed up at the team dinner, then nobody answered their phones when the guys started calling. So then yesterday Nick was supposed to land in Las Vegas at 2:20. He missed his flight. His management team called and said, ‘book him another flight at 7:30.’ Not only did he miss the first one, he missed the second flight. His bags made it to Vegas and he never did.”

“We had staff that saw him yesterday in the airport and he elected to not get on the flight. His bags did arrive. Again, I can’t speak to why Nick decided not to get on the flight, but we’re moving on as if the fight is happening Saturday. We’re very confident he’s going to be here today.” “We’re moving forward. “July is like seven months away. I don’t even want to wait seven weeks. So I spoke to (UFC matchmaker) Sean Shelby, and… I don’t know. I was kinda getting my hopes up and [now] I don’t know if I’m going to get another fight. But all I can do is just keep training and keep my fingers crossed and make sure everyone is harassing them. I was harassing them as well, but, I don’t know if they listen to the fighters, but they certainly listen to the fans. So if anyone is listening, get on them, because seven months is far too long.”

Last night the UFC released footage of Nick Diaz no-showing his scheduled flight to Las Vegas. This morning UFC President Dana White sent out a photo of a Nick Diaz adorned Milk Carton, insinuating that the athlete had indeed gone missing. Now, according to a statement from his agent, this is all just the UFC “spinning” things out of control.

“…It should be a good fight, [Nick Diaz] couldn’t have had better training for it. I brought in Artem Levin for him to work with, Chidi Njokuani and of course myself (Joe Schilling). Chidi was perfect to finish the camp actually, he moves just like Anderson, he’s got a similar style.
