UFC FN 59 Results: Tibau Earns 16th UFC Win with Decision Over Parke

This lightweight bout may not have been the most exciting opening to a main card, but it was nice to see both Gleison Tibau and Norman Parke smart careful and smart. They both respected each other’s power and did not want to get within a dangerous striking distance. Tibau outgrappled his Parke tonight, though, and earned a tough decision win. Tibau earned his 16th UFC win tonight.
UFC FN 59 Results: Pendred Picks Up Controversial Decision Over Spencer

That was a controversial decision to say the least. Cathal Pendred picked up a unanimous decision victory over Sean Spencer even though he was outstruck. Pendred landed four takedowns, but they did not lead to anything at all.

John Howard’s head movement was looking good in the opening minute of the bout, but Lorenz Larkin was on another level tonight in Boston. Larkin was light on his feet and picked every shot strategically which resulted in a big TKO win for him.

Zhang Lipeng and Chris Wade slowed the pace of tonight’s event with their bout. Low blows, strikes to the back of the head and a grapple-heavy fight led to a fight that may not have satisfied the casual mixed martial arts fan’s appetite for action.

Even though it was just his second fight in the octagon, Johnny Case looked like he has been in there for years. Every single time it looked like Frankie Perez would make an offensive move, Case either cut him off or turned the tables shortly thereafter. The fight was one sided and “Hollywood” Case ended things with strikes in the final round.

Charlez Rosa and Sean Soriano kicked off the Fox Sports 1 portion of the preliminaries with their featherweight bout. Rosa was game and threatened submissions every single time the fight went to the ground where he finally submitted Soriano in round three.

Matt Van Buren and Sean O’Connell followed up an exciting featherweight bout with a slower paced, but more heavy hitting light heavyweight bout. Van Buren looked great in the first round, but he slowly started fading as each minute passed.
