Juliana “The Venezuelan Vixen” Pena was ecstatic with a Holly Holm victory over then champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia. Pena is currently ranked #5 in the UFC official bantamweight division. Pena took Jessica Eye to the fight to the scorecards and came out with a unanimous decision victory at UFC 192 against Eye. An injury back in 2013 derailed the TUF season 18 winner until she returned back to the octagon back in April of this year.

Well, it’s another Monday and you are back to work to start off the week. Let’s get the work week off to a good start with UFC Octagon Girl Jamilette Gaxiola. Gaxiola made her way into fan’s hearts during The Ultimate Fighter Latin America, followed by UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt in Mexico City. Gaxiola was last seen at UFC Fight Night 78 in Mexico.

Things are looking good for Jon “Bones” Jones since his reinstatement back in the UFC. Jones (21-1 MMA) has been seen on multiple videos back in full training form. Jones looking bulked up 4 months before a possible rematch with champ Daniel “DC” Cormier has brought some attention to his physique. “Bones” in the past had made comments about stepping up to heavyweight, but those were the days before the former heavyweight champ lost his title to Fabricio Werdum. Velasquez himself thought that a super-fight was close to being put together, but the fight never materialized.

The man who is set to face Jose “Scarface” Aldo Jr. at UFC 194 is known for his bold, in your face abrasiveness that makes you want to root against him or for him. That part of the “bigger than life” persona that fans around the world are intrigued with or outright turned off by the Irishman. McGregor (18-2 MMA) has been seen with Jones on occasion, having fun and laughing, when on photo shoots or media related events together. “Bones” (21-1 MMA) told MMA Fighting that McGregor was there for him in his darkest hour.

Did you hear about Ronda Rousey’s weight cut going into her fight with Holly Holm? What about the physical shape she was in? Did you hear that she was out of shape? Excuses were coming out of the woodworks on how Ronda Rousey could have possibly lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193. Some were quick to point fingers at Mike Dolce, Rousey’s nutritionist for the fight, who addressed her weight cut and shape while talking to Submission Radio (transcribed by Bloody Elbow):

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently went into great detail with MMA Fighting about the issues that came along with his hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jones said in the in-depth interview that he told the UFC that he did not want to go on with his scheduled title defense fight at UFC 187 and wanted a break with all his legal issues on hand, which lead to the UFC stripping him of his title and suspending him (transcribed by Bloody Elbow):

When Ronda Rousey was portrayed as a kid in the UFC 193 pre-hype video, Rousey was watching UFC hall of fame legend BJ Penn about to make history. When she was watching Penn’s historical fight, the thoughts in her head would be something like, “I’m going to be champ one day,” not “I can’t wait to be a role model.” Sometimes, it’s society pushing for it or it could be just part of the job. But, if there is a role model in women’s MMA that could be a positive influence on young fighters or MMA fans in general, Brian Stann feels like Holm can take on the task. Mendes (17-3 MMA) will need a win against Edgar to maintain his spot amongst the elite featherweights.

We all know a few things about Conor McGregor. He’s deep in the psychological, as well as the physical aspect of mix martial arts. McGregor is a student of the fight game. He’s seen Aldo’s leg kicking devastation in slow motion replay, like we all have. “Notorious” UFC road began with Marcus Brimage when they fought in April 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden. Notable wins on McGregor’s UFC journey were against Dustin Poirier, Dennis Siver and Chad Mendez. The fight with “Money” at UFC 189 allowed McGregor a chance to unify the belts with Kingpin Jose Aldo Jr.  McGregor is playing the game with the UFC and both sides are winning.

I guess it can even be electric when you’re hanging out with Northcutt (6-0 MMA) when he’s out of the octagon. The Tristar product recently defeated Francisco Trevino (14-2 MMA) of Macaco Gold team via TKO at UFC 192. Northcutt will get back into the octagon for Fight Night 80, December 10th at Las Vegas, NV for his second fight in the UFC.

UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is fresh off of an impressive decision win over Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event of UFC 193 this past month. In the fight Jedrzejczyk injured her right hand, and needed to undergo surgery.
