Some major changes were made as big names made major drops and a familiar face pops back up in the light heavyweight division. Ronda Rousey’s devastating loss to now-champion Holly Holm may not have caused a major drop for her in the women’s bantamweight division, but she has officially dropped out of the Top 10 in the pound-for-pound rankings. Anderson Silva gives Ronda Rousey words of encouragement after rough loss
BJPENN.COM News - November 16, 2015
Ronda Rousey was riding a wave of momentum very few fighters ever get the opportunity to when walking into a championship fight at “UFC 193”. She had torn through every single opponent UFC President Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva put in front of her and she crossed over into main-stream superstardom because of it. She had every reason to believe that she was going to blast through Holly Holm this past Saturday, but her path to immortality was cut off when she was knocked out in the second round. It was one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport and a champion who was viewed as unbeatable laid staring at the ceiling after getting knocked out. Sound familiar?
George Foreman says Ronda Rousey will be back
Russell Ess - November 16, 2015
It says a lot when you have a world champion heavyweight boxer in Mike Tyson supporting you when you just lost a world title fight. When you have two of them doing that, what more can you do but pick yourself up from the loss and get back to your winning ways. This is exactly what two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist George Foreman is urging Ronda Rousey to do. After Rousey suffered a painful KO loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, Foreman tweeted this advice to Rousey: “RONDA ROUSEY; You made us look, win, lose or draw, you’re the big story, rest, reset you’ll be back.” Although Rousey announced after her loss that she will be taking some time off of fighting, she says she will be back.
Dana White: If Miesha Tate is talking about retirement, 'it's probably a good idea'
Russell Ess - November 16, 2015
It looks like Miesha Tate might have a harder time negotiating with the UFC than she initially thought. Tate has gone on record and said she might retire if she continues to get the runaround on a title shot from the UFC. Tate was given the verbal commitment to fight for the women’s bantamweight title if she won against Jessica Eye, which she did back in July. However, she was overlooked when the UFC booked Rousey versus Holm, which led to her talks of being stuck as a gatekeeper and looking at the option of retiring.

BJPENN.COM News - November 16, 2015
Joanna Jedrzejczyk escaped the octagon with the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship secured around her waist, but it wasn’t without paying a price. Fans expected the champion to waltz through eighth-ranked Valerie Letourneau based on her past performances and the odds, but styles make matchups! Letourneau brought the champion to her limit and while she did not come as close as she wished to winning the title, she turned a lot of heads and may actually move up the rankings despite her loss. Jedrzejczyk landed a whopping 227 strikes throughout her twenty-five minute war with Letourneau and suffered a broken hand in the process. Jedrzejczyk’s manager Tiago Okamura confirmed with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani that she had suffered a broken right hand and will need surgery to patch it up.

Mark Hunt asked Dana White to fight in two weeks after UFC 193 win
BJPENN.COM News - November 16, 2015
Mark Hunt walked into the octagon at “UFC 193” with a point to make: He is still fresh enough to make another run at the UFC Heavyweight Championship despite his age. Hunt knew full and well that a loss to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, who isn’t even in the top-ten of the division, could lay any talks of him making another run at the championship to rest. “The Super Samoan” made sure to end the fight quick and laid Silva to rest in less than five minutes. Both heavyweights landed their fair share of significant shots, but it was Hunt who would land more total blows as well as the finishing overhand punch in the third minute of the first round. Silva went down fast and the referee stepped in to wave the fight off before “Bigfoot” could take any unnecessary punishment.

Nick Diaz attributes Ronda Rousey's loss to a 'simple mistake'
BJPENN.COM News - November 15, 2015
The world of mixed martial arts could not believe their eyes on Saturday evening when they watched Ronda Rousey, one of the most dominant athletes to ever step foot in the octagon, suffer her first loss by way of a brutal knockout. Bookies tried to label Holm as one of the biggest underdogs in a championship match in recent memory and she made them pay for it! Rousey has seen a great deal of success while standing in the octagon and in training, so she chose to try and beat Holm at her own game. While Rousey did try to take the fight to the ground a couple of times for her bread-and-butter armbar, there is no doubt that Rousey did tried to rush a world-class striker while Holm forced the fight to stay standing by keeping her distance. It didn’t take long to see Holm’s striking was on a different level and it took all of two rounds for her to prove her superiority that night. She walked out of the octagon with the gold strapped around her waist and fighters were blowing up their social media accounts.

She has knocked out several women in the octagon and she was told she looked fantastic all throughout her training camp, which may have been the case. The issue is that Holm was simply better and outclassed the champion in every aspect of the fight.
