“Whatever the fans really want to see, and whatever is the toughest challenge for me. Right now, the 185-pound division is exciting. There’s a lot of guys and a lot of matchups that people want to see me against. So those are the fights I’m going to fight. But if it comes to the point where ’85 looks a little stale, I have no problem going to 205. Frank Mir and Alistair Overeem met in the octagon this past Saturday at UFC 169 in what was sure to be an exciting heavyweight bout. As Mir walked into the cage, he looked to be in amazing shape but that proved to be irrelevant. Mir proved to be durable as he ate shots and kept working for submissions, but watching him get outnumbered in strikes 139 to 5 was difficult to watch.

“It’s kind of a no-brainer. Anybody who pays attention to the sport knows who’s coming, you know who’s deserving. You’ve got to give Alexander Gustafsson the No. 1 contender spot behind Glover Teixeira. Then with the way Daniel Cormier has been performing, he’s top three at the heavyweight division. Lets see how he competes at the light heavyweight division but with the tear he’s been on, if he can continue that, it’s unquestioned that he deserves a shot, as well. “I really don’t like [Cormier] too much, but right now he’s coming across as being good for the sport. He’s a really articulate guy. He’s doing a lot of broadcasting and commentary. He’s a winner and an Olympian. So even though I don’t like him, I do respect what he’s doing for our sport.”

The worst part about watching fights for me, it puts me in the mental mindset as if I’m there fighting. I’ve really gotten to the point where I don’t necessarily enjoy the fights as a spectator like I used to 15 years ago. I’ll watch the occasional fight with my friends, but even then you’ll see me sitting on the couch kind of bobbing and weaving as if I’m in the cage. It’s a really weird feeling. This time it was a premature stoppage — everybody agrees. Because of this point in particular, the way it was stopped, there should be a third fight.” “I don’t think Urijah even needs to have another fight to go back to Barao. I think they should redo it, but of course I’m not the promoter.
