On this day, Oct. 29 in 2011 BJ Penn and Nick Diaz fought in the main event of UFC 137 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Diaz ended up winning a unanimous decision in the 3 round fight where the two built up the bout with a lot of bad blood. The fight didn’t disappoint as the two legends were honored Fight of the Night with both men taking home a $75,000 performance bonus.

Michael Bisping stated recently that when Vitor Belfort knocked him out with a nasty head kick back in 2013, he was left “permanently disfigured” due to surgeries he was forced to undergo for a detached retina.

Ben Rothwell was quite frustrated recently when Stipe Miocic backed out of their ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ bout, and then signed to fight Andrei Arlovski at UFC 195 after Rothwell began campaigning for the fight against Arlovski. Following the news of Miocic signing to fight Arlovski, an understandably upset Rothwell went on to state that it would take divine intervention in order to get him a fight booked against a top ranked heavyweight.

‘UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs. Cruz’ has picked up an exciting lightweight matchup between Ross ‘The Real Deal’ Pearson and Francisco ‘Massaranduba’ Trinaldo according to The Sun. Pearson has alternated between wins and losses since June of 2014. In his most recent fight Pearson was awarded a split decision win over Paul Felder at UFC 191 to push his record under the UFC banner to 10-6.

Cat Zingano has been MIA for the most part since her heartbreaking loss to Ronda Rousey for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship back at UFC 184 in February. Zingano was understandably devastated after her loss to Rousey, but was adamant that she would earn another shot at the championship belt. Since then ‘Alpha’ hasn’t been booked for another fight, and the way she tells it…that’s what she wanted.

News broke Wednesday evening that Lyman Good was forced out of his UFC FN 80 bout against Omari Akhmedov for reasons that were not disclosed. As a result Sergio Moraes has stepped in on short notice to fight Akhmedov on December 10th in Las Vegas.

Back in 2013 Michael Bisping was on the wrong end of a brutal head kick from Vitor Belfort. Bisping suffered a detached retina as a result of the knockout, and has since stated that he won’t fight another person who has a past of failing drug tests. Earlier this week Bisping stated that he no longer wants to fight Anderson Silva because of his failed drug test.

Last week Ben Rothwell stated that he believed it would take divine intervention for him to get a fight booked against a top ranked heavyweight after Stipe Miocic was forced out of their ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ bout with an injured back and Andrei Arlovski declined to step in on short notice. Miocic planned on only being out for a few weeks, and told the UFC that he would be willing to re-book a fight with Rothwell, or fight Andrei Arlovski.

At the ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ Q&A event leading up to Saturday’s fight, Rory MacDonald was asked about the status of Georges St. Pierre’s return. MacDonald stated that GSP returning wouldn’t affect his run at welterweight because ‘Rush’ wasn’t planning on returning to fight for the title, but rather for super-fights.
