UFC on FUEL TV 10 First Ever 'Carbon Neutral' UFC Event
BJPENN.COM News - June 7, 2013
The Ultimate Fighting Championship and the Government of the State of Ceara today participated in a ceremonial tree planting as part of an initiative that will make THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER® BRASIL 2 FINALE: NOGUEIRA vs. WERDUM 100% carbon neutral. The UFC marked its participation in the Government’s carbon offset action initiative, known as Ceara Carbono Zero, on the heels of World Environment Day, June 5, 2013, at Cocó Park in Fortaleza. In 2011 the Ceara State Government began a carbon emissions policy under the guidelines of the Ceara Carbono Zero strategy. The strategy emphasizes support to renewable energy investments (specifically solar and wind power), the protection of the biodiversity of the Caatinga (a semi-arid scrub forest situated in the northeast of Brazil), the implementation of the solid waste policy, as well as a set of overall efforts to mitigate and compensate emissions.

Dan Henderson Wants Jones Over Anderson Silva Rematch: 'I have less Respect for Jones as a person'
BJPENN.COM News - June 7, 2013
“I’d like to fight Jon Jones more than I’d like to fight Anderson Silva,” said Henderson. “Just because I have less respect for him as a person than Anderson. He’s not genuine. I think how he portrays himself is not how he really is. I think the fans have picked up on how he really is, as well.” “A lot of it is probably because he’s young and he got catapulted into the public eye, and he’s trying to portray himself in a different way,” Henderson said. “But he should just be himself. “

Michael Bisping Eyes Bout with Cung Le After Eye Heals
bjpenndotcom - June 6, 2013
In a strange twist, UFC middleweight Michael Bisping was recently told that his recent bout with blurry vision was due to a detached retina in his eye. I call this a strange twist because Bisping’s last fight with Alan Belcher at UFC 159, was called short after an unintentional eye-poke to Belcher forced the referee to call the fight, sending it to the judge’s scorecards late in the third and final round.

Weidman Explains The Time He Offered To Fight Jon Jones
BJPENN.COM News - June 6, 2013
I’m the type of guy that loves big opportunities. I like when the cards are against me, and people think that I have no chance. I believe in myself, so when that fight came out that it was in jeopardy, I called my manager and asked if there was a possibility that I could get the fight because I think I could take it. He was like, ‘Really?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He said give me a couple days, and I told him I was ready to go. So, he called Joe Silva, and he was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I think Joe liked the fact that I did that. So he said he wasn’t going to tell Dana and them unless I called my coaches to make sure it was all 100%. I called Matt and told him that I wanted to this. They were all on board, so I called back my manager, and he tells Joe Silva, and he thought it was awesome, so he called Dana White, but then they ended up throwing the fight out, and then the whole card out. I was all ready to go [laughs]. I ran straight to the gym and started working out.

Sonnen: Shogun Beat Up Wanderlei Silva In Practice
BJPENN.COM News - June 6, 2013
“I went after Wanderlei and I was quite candid, I went after Wanderlei because he’s the worst guy I could find, record-wise. He’s the worst fighter in the UFC. I know what you’re thinking. ‘What about ‘Crocop?” You’re right, ‘Croc Cop’ was terrible, but, Wanderlei’s record was actually a bit worse. I couldn’t get Wanderlei, so I said, ‘Why don’t I fight the guy that destroyed Wanderlei for years in the practice room?’ And that brings us to ‘Shogun.’ I like ‘Shogun.’ I have nothing against ‘Shogun,’ this is just good solid competition. But, Wanderlei did this to you ‘Shogun.'” – Chael Sonnen via UFC Tonight!

bjpenndotcom - June 6, 2013
Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has gone through what appears to be his own fountain of youth, revitalizing a career that he had stated was on its way out. A new deal with Bellator FC has opened up a number of doors for the 34-year old former UFC light-heavyweight champ and Rampage fully intends on opening every single one. Unhappy with his career in the UFC, Rampage was extremely vocal about leaving the promotion to take charge of his own well-being. In an interview with a MMA news outlet Jackson disclosed details on the new deal that could mean big things for Jackson, Bellator, Spike, TNA, and the world of MMA.
