Chan Sung Jung’s recently wrote a Facebook letter to Georges St Pierre regarding his offensive Hayabusa ‘Rising Sun’ Gi worn at UFC 158 earlier this month. He explained to Georges that this symbol represents Japan’s war crimes against Koreans. This ‘history lesson’ has lead both Hayabusa and Georges St Pierre to openly apologize for the incident. The combat apparel and fight equipment company Hayabusa made the following statement:

“I’m happy about this fight [against Henderson]. Having the chance to fight somebody like Dan is a big deal, especially after not having the performance I would have liked [against Nogueira]. “It’s good to get in there with somebody like Dan and answer a lot of critics and to show everybody that I am still one of the best guys in the weight class. I couldn’t find my rhythm against Nogueira; I couldn’t find my timing. It was just one of those things. It was like I was in a mental fog.”

By Evan Stoumbelis After Johny Hendricks defeated Carlos Condit at UFC 158 it looked like he would finally get a crack at the welterweight strap, but it seems that a shot at the title has once again evaded him, this time in the form of an Achilles tendon injury to welterweight kingpin Georges St. Pierre. GSP’s coach Firas Zihabi said Georges would be out for six-months, after just two fights back after teaching his ACL. One asks the question, is it fair to put the welterweight division on hold yet again? When GSP tore his ACL he was expected to be out for “up to six months” and he ultimately ended up returning after nearly nine. If Georges is going to miss another nine-months, in my opinion, it is only fair to give Johny Hendricks his title shot, but in the form of an interim title fight. The UFC now has their own rankings ladder, but who is really deserving of an interim title fight?

Earlier this week we reported that the UFC’s Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres had tested positive for marijuana and subsequently received a suspension from active competition. He has now released the following statement through his management:

There’s been a lot of speculation online in the last 24 hours or so regarding Mr Hardy being forced out of his fight with Matt Brown next month, so I wanted to clarify the situation and provide some details. On Tuesday this week Dan went and had his medicals done as per normal, however because the fight is in California there was an EKG performed as well as the usual standard medicals done in every other states (normally; blood work, physical, MRI, etc).

“This fight is just like, you know, the biggest fight of my life,” Belcher admitted during a pre-fight interview with UFC.com. “We both have a lot on the line for this one, we’re both getting close to a title shot, so a loss could be detrimental…” I think that my skill-set and all the different weapons I have, along with my power, is going to be the difference in the fight. I have no doubt in my mind that Bisping could not knock me out with his best punch if I let him. There’s no way that I am going to get hurt in this fight and that I’m going to go down.”

The VADA organization has made diligent efforts to clean up the sport of Mixed Martial Arts through random, unannounced drug screening. More and more these days UFC fighters seem to be getting popped for banned substances, resulting in fines, suspensions and overturned verdicts of fights. In some instances pre-fight testing has cost the UFC main events, millions of dollars and complete restructuring of pay-per-views at the last-minute.
