Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez was reportedly pulled over and arrested for suspicion of DUI early Sunday morning in Los Angeles, California. According to MMAWeekly, Rodriguez was booked for misdemeanor DUI after failing a breathalyzer test. Law enforcement stated that Rodriquez was cooperative and voluntarily took the breathalyzer test. Several hours after the arrest, the VH1 “Celebrity Rehab” alumni was released on $5,000 bail.

Ricardo was named the 13th most powerful player in MMA in the Fight! Power rankings which means this is a perfect guest to talk to about the current state of MMA. We will talk to Ricardo about the history of ATT, his time learning martial arts from a young age (He got his start in combat sports at 4 years old), and the program he has at ATT to teach judo to visually impaired students. Ricardo’s story of getting into BJJ, to his leaving the famed Gracie academy, creating Brazilian Top Team, and ending up in the states to start ATT is worthy of a movie and we will be talking all of it. I couldn’t think of a better way to start out the show then to have a man who has won Gold at the first ever “Mundials,” or World Jiu-Jitsu Championship & Gold in the International Masters Mundials. Although he hasn’t fought since his 2010 loss to Randy Couture, it has always been a questions whether or not Mark Coleman would fight again. We now have our answer as the 48-year-old recently posted on his Facebook page that he needs a total hip replacement. Total Hip replacement next Monday. Ouch.

As if losing a controversial split decision to Diego Sanchez this past weekend wasn’t enough, Takanori Gomi also suffered a broken right hand in the first round of the bout. This means Gomi delivered what many consider the most exceptional performance of his career, with a handicapped hand. Gomi posted a picture of his broken hand on his blog. About one minute into the fight, Gomi landed a right hand to the top of Diego’s head, and shook out his glove in pain. However, he still fought through the pain, and even connected his right hand several times throughout the duration of the fight. Even with a limp hand, Takanori Gomi ended up out-landing Diego in all three rounds of their fight. My respect for Gomi just skyrocketed.
