It was an emotional homecoming for Ireland’s Aisling Daly. Daly came out quick in the first, putting pressure on Almeida from the get go. Ultimately Daly’s control of the fight and her total accumulation of significant strikes was enough to earn her a judges decision in front of her Irish crowd.

Tom Breese marched into Dublin and picked up an impressive 1st round TKO win over Ireland’s own Cathal Pendred. Breese bloodied Pendred just moments after the fight started, and then proceeded to wear Pendred down until he was able to finish him towards the end of the 1st round.

In the second preliminary fight of the card, Darren Elkins picked up a unanimous decision win by utilizing elite level wrestling to grind out Robert Whiteford. Elkins 5 takedowns over the course of the 3-round bout was enough to ultimately earn him a judges decision.

Cris Cyborg is currently in the process of cutting down to 140 pounds for a catchweight fight under the Invicta FC banner in hopes of getting an eventual fight with Ronda Rousey at 135 pounds in the UFC. Cyborg posted a photo to her Instagram recently showing off her progress on her way down to 140. On Inside MMA Friday night, Cyborg discussed the drop to 140 pounds as well as a potential fight with Rousey in the future, saying:

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has always been vocal about his distaste for several techniques employed by former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Rampage has previously stated that he dislikes oblique kicks because they could potentially end a fighters career, and in his case, apparently changed his knee forever.

Since dropping a unanimous decision to Conor McGregor back in 2013 Max Holloway has gone on a 7-fight win streak that includes 6 finishes, one of which came against Cub Swanson. Since McGregor won the bout, he has picked up another 4 wins and claimed the UFC interim featherweight championship.

Early Friday morning news broke that former UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones had been reinstated by the UFC and is eligible to fight immediately. Jones released a statement via Facebook, promising his fans that the best is yet to come. This prompted UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier to post a statement regarding Jones’ reinstatement on Facebook.
