Mousasi: I think people underestimate me | MMA NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - January 10, 2013
“I see a lot of fighters getting knocked out, but they still, they praise them a lot more than me. I haven’t been beaten badly in any fight. I just lost one fight in, I don’t know how many fights. I think people underestimate me. And I feel like now, with the good training I have, why shouldn’t I be able to fight these UFC fighters?.. I’m almost to my goal. This is the time. If I don’t do it now, maybe I won’t get a second chance. I feel like everything is falling into its place.” Former Strikeforce and DREAM champion, Gegard Mousasi tells MMAFighting.com that he is ready for his chance in the Octagon amongst the world’s greatest fighters.

Bisping: Belfort's A Cheat Who Wins With Punches Behind The Head | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - January 10, 2013
“I was disappointed Vitor Belfort started talking in tongues when asked about TRT recently. He had a little more to say on Monday when he was asked directly about my concerns that all his recent UFC fights were won by illegal punches to the back of the head. In between lengthy references to the New Testament, Belfort basically said he doesn’t care if he hits opponents behind the head. How he’s gotten away with this in his career is a mystery to me, and I hope we have a strong referee who has the balls to do something about it – if it happens – with thousands of Belfort supporters screaming in the stands. And of course it is down to me to make sure I’m not put in a position where he can unload these kinds of shots. Vitor has one or two rounds to beat me – or try to hit me behind the head – and then his gas tank will be empty and the fight will look like that Rocky vs. that dead cow.” – Michael Bisping via YahooSports!

Lombard Doesn't Think The UFC Is Willing To Give Him A Shot At Anderson Silva | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - January 9, 2013
“Let’s cut the bullshit, let’s be honest, they won’t give me Anderson Silva. We have to be realistic and talk about things that might happen. I’ve got to take one fight at a time and one-by-one I can take them out and by the end of the year people are going to say he deserves the title shot. I want it to just be my hard work. I want people to say that no one deserves the title more than him. I just don’t want to fight guys that they say, ‘Oh that was a easy match-up for him.’ I want to fight the hardest match-up. I wish they (the UFC) could go now and make a pool of the toughest guys at 84kg that no one wants to fight and I want to fight that guy. I want to fight who the UFC and the people believe is the toughest guy out there. Not many people want to fight Palhares. Before we had the fight people were saying: ‘Hector is gone, Palhares is taking Hector’s leg back to Brazil.’ I would like to fight Chris Weidman, he’s a big name. I’ve been asking for (Yushin) Okami, I’ve been asking for Okami but they (UFC) won’t give him to me because of his chin. Okami has no chin, he can’t cop the punches. And where’s Jake Shields? He’s been around forever, he beat Dan Henderson. Those are the guys I want to fight.” Top middleweight fighter, Hector Lombard, tells News.com.au that he isn’t getting his hopes up for a title shot anytime in the near future. It’s because of this that he simply wants the toughest competition the UFC can drum up for him.

Diego Nunes Leaves Nova Uniao In Pursuit Of Championship Gold | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - January 9, 2013
“I respected the people with whom I worked with at Nova União” said Nunes. “Independently of what I wanted though, I lowered my head there. There, Aldo was the champion really so I could never shout, ‘Oh! I am going to be a champion!’ Whenever I bow my head, I did it out of my heart in sincerity, I was never forced into anything. I took advantage of my time, but my time there is over. Now I’m on a team where people look at me and say, ‘Diego, you will be the champion. Let’s make you a champion.’ Thanks to Nova União because if I had not been there maybe I would not here today.” As a UFC featherweight fighter, it must be hard living your daily life under the shadow of Jose Aldo. Which is why, according to this interview, Diego Nunes has moved camps to the popular X-Gym.

Ed Herman Blames PED's For Shields Loss | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - January 9, 2013
“I think Colorado is one of the HIPAA privacy states where they weren’t allowed to release what he tested positive for. I’m pretty sure it was for some type of performance enhancing substance, just by looking at his physique going in to the fight. He looked pretty puffed up and exhibited the common signs. As an athlete, you can recognize those signs. I can’t guarantee it, but I’m pretty positive that it was for some kind of performance enhancing drug. If it really was for marijuana, it’s a lot easier for a guy to come right out and say, ‘I smoked a joint, sorry.’ You get a little less criticism that way than if you cheated and used a performance enhancer… I noticed a significant drop in my standing in the rankings on several sites after the Shields fight. I feel that if he wasn’t cheating, and you know, taking the Superman stuff, it would have been a different fight. Even though it was turned into a no contest, my rank has still come down. I didn’t get my hand raised. I didn’t get that win bonus check, which is a huge difference for us. I feel that loss financially and emotionally. It sucks.” UFC middleweight fighter, Ed Herman, tells Steph Daniels of Bloodyelbow.com that he believes Jake Shields used performance enhancers in their fight to edge out a decision victory.

Dollar For Dollar, Word For Word: Bellator Boss Says They Matched UFC's Offer To Alvarez | MMA NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - January 8, 2013
“I’ve got wild respect for Ed. In our contract with Ed, exactly like the UFC has in their contracts, we have the right to match. Ed went out and got an offer from the UFC, and we took a look at that offer, reviewed it for about eight days, and decided to match it dollar for dollar, deal point for deal point, term for term. We matched every single element of it, word for word. We matched the deal, and literally just signed it and sent it to him. Because that’s what our contract requires us to do, we matched it and sent it to him signed. So if he were to send it back signed, we’d be off and running and we could start looking at scheduling; we could start figuring out what’s next immediately.
