“It was just a little too personal for me. I love both of those guys and it is just business and they did what they had to do, but for me, it was kind of a personal thing and it’s not something I enjoy. So, I hung out with the family and didn’t participate. A few people were asking me and I said no, it wasn’t like I was dying for play-by-play or anything like that. I got updates after it was done and everybody let me know it was good and everybody was okay and that was my main concern. “I wouldn’t want [St-Pierre] to move up, I’d want Anderson to come down,” Zahabi said. “I don’t know if Anderson can make 170 or something close to that. If Georges goes up, I know he won’t be able to come back down, he’s told me many times if he goes up he won’t go back down, and I believe him when he says that because he’d want to spend some serious time getting extra size on him. and, … I would want [Silva] to come down as close to 170 as possible if that was the case. “You know, the thing is, the next day he’ll balloon up over 200, and I don’t think that’s fair,” Zahabi said. ” I don’t think that’s a fair fight. If he can make the cut to 170, that would be great. Georges has to fight everyone at 170, and that’s the case. Really I think it would be even and fair. Even if [Silva] would balloon up the next day, he would be weakened by the weight cut, there would be something there.”

Hawaii’s “Just Scrap” Fight promotion returned to Maui for the third straight time this month with “Just Scrap Maui III: Grove vs. Cisneros” on November 9. UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva spoke with Ariel Helwani at UFC 154 about his potential super fight with GSP. Silva appeared very confident about the match up, point blank saying that he WILL fight the welterweight champion, St-Pierre.

We think people want to see it, and we think the guys want to do it, so we’ll do it. They will fight, and it will probably be in May or around May.” “[St. Pierre] is lumped up. He’s sore. He feels like he just got hit by a bus, I’m sure. He hasn’t fought in 18 months. I’ll make this fight,” said White. “We’re going to sit down with Anderson, probably in the next two weeks, and I’m sure we’re going to sit down and talk to St. Pierre and his team, too. Who knows? Maybe we go into this thing, and St. Pierre says, ‘Absolutely not,’ but I just don’t see that happening.”

I think the problem with GSP’s view about WMMA is that he doesn’t have one. If he hasn’t ever watched us women fight then he can’t say how he really feels about it because he’s ignorant. Being old fashioned is fine, but us “modern day” girls aren’t asking for your protection, we are asking for your acceptance and we are fighting for equality.

“Yes it was a similar experience [to the Serra fight]. When I got hit hard, sometimes before I was very proud guy, I try to give it back right away but the experience I gained from a lot of all my fight allowed me to recompose, defend myself and when I got back I come back stronger. It’s that experience that allowed me to survive, you know, and come back from that kick that I got hit with.” During the UFC 154 post-fight press conference UFC welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre told the media in attendance that his crushing KO loss to Matt Serra made him the fighter he is today in regards to his durability and ability to recover clearly from punishment.
