VIDEO | Florian Can Still Taste The Blood From Sherk Fight | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - October 24, 2012
“(The blood) gave me motivation. The fans just went nuts. There was so much blood in the cage that night from him. Literally, it was the next day, and I had already taken two or three showers—the next day I still found blood in my ear, outside my ear. I found it inside, like rolled up in my eyelids. “There was so much blood, I can’t even tell you. It was ridiculous. I can still taste it to this day. Like liquid metal. It was nuts. And definitely it motivated me. And that was a war. That was a war. I remember peeing blood after that.”

Overeem Wants Title Shot, But Won't Wait For Championship Fight | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - October 24, 2012
“Right now, he’s not even licensed so the UFC’s hands are tied. Until he gets licensed, the UFC can’t book him a fight until he gets licensed. So right now it’s all talk. Based upon when he gets licensed and it also depends on the winner of dos Santos and Cain (Velasquez) fight come out unscathed. What if the winner comes out and has an injury and doesn’t want to fight for 8 months? So there’s a lot of “what ifs”, so right now we’re just focusing on getting licensed, and once we get licensed then we’ll figure out who we’re going to fight. We’d still rather jump in and get a fight, so we’ll see what happens. He would like to fight as soon as possible after he gets licensed. We’re appreciative that Dana (White) and Lorenzo (Fertitta) want him to fight for the title, and we’re thankful for that, but right now the focused is to get licensed.” Glenn Robinsion, manager of Alistair Overeem and “The Blackzilians” recently discussed the state of Alistair Overeem and what they want for the former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 champion.
Condit Coach: The Way To Beat GSP Is To Hurt Him, We Have Something Coming For The TD Attempts | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - October 24, 2012
“Georges is the best in the world at what he does, but at the same time, we know what he does. He does that, and hardly anybody’s been able really to stop it, but with that being said, Carlos has got something for him. Every time he wants to shoot in, we want to not give him the proper distance. We want to not be there when he does shoot, but when he does, we want to have something there for him.” “He definitely followed my gameplan for Nick Diaz to a T, but with that being said, it’s different with Georges. Nick comes back from the dead. I think Carlos can unload on Georges and do damage early, and that will pay benefits as we go on … . You will see a different fight that way. The way to fight Georges is not to back away and touch him because he’s going to eventually take you down and ride out a decision that way and he could finish you. Georges is great in many different positions, but the way to beat Georges is to hurt him. That’s what this fight is going to come down to: Carlos can strike from so many places. He can hurt you in so many ways. What people have forgotten is that early in Carlos’ career, he was tapping people out left and right. Carlos is great with his submissions and working on them daily. He wants to time Carlos’ footwork to come forward and shoot on Carlos. There’s no doubt about it. He’s got to close the gap. Carlos is longer — we know that, so that’s what we’re looking for. Things are going to happen when one of the two guys close the gap.”
Joe Lauzon on Maynard: He's Not a Great Finisher | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - October 24, 2012
“The money’s really nice, but it’s really not the driving factor behind it. The basing is that’s just how I like to fight. I like to go out there and submit guys, I like to go out there and attack. Sometimes I’m a little over-aggressive and it leads to cardio issues and things like that, but I try to have the kind of fights that I want to watch. And I want to watch guys that are going out and being aggressive and attacking, and not guys that are trying to edge out a decision. “It’s not that I’m 100 percent thinking ‘Oh I’m just thinking about that money’. I’m thinking that if I’m going to have a fight and I’m going to dedicate months of my life to getting ready for 15 minutes, I’m going have fun, I’m going to be in shape and I’m gonna go out there and I’m gonna attack. And I’m gonna know one way or the other if I’m the better guy or not the better guy. I’d hate to go out there and try to just win and just coast to a decision. It’s not fulfilling to me.”

JDS Not Happy With Sonnen, Overeem Title Shots | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - October 23, 2012
“It’s kind of out of order. Nowadays, the UFC is prioritizing those fights which will sell well. A prime example of this was Chael Sonnen, who sold his fight very well. Overeem has followed the same path. But, for me, bring it on. I do not run from any challenge, I know I can beat anyone whatsoever. Come whoever comes, I will do my best to go out with a win in the Octagon.”

Matt Hughes Wants To Become A Judge, Possibly Open A Judging Academy
BJPENN.COM News - October 23, 2012
“When I’m a judge, I can only help the fighters that are right in front of me,” Hughes explained. “I would rather have a piece of a school, or help these judges figure out the best way to judge. Of course, I wouldn’t be the lead person. I wouldn’t want any financial interest in it whatsoever. But by gosh, these judges need to have some knowledge. They can’t go from a boxing atmosphere and think that [MMA] is going to be the same way. You just can’t.” “I’ve judged a lot of matches and I’ve reffed a lot of matches, and so I think I could help out in figuring out what the best criteria is. My number one criteria when it comes to judging a mixed martial arts fight is damage. Whoever does the most damage probably ought to win the round. If you’re on bottom, if you’re on top, if you’re on your feet, whoever does the cumulative most damage in a round, is probably going to win. And some of these judges think that because one guy was on top the whole five minutes, just because he was on top, they think he should have won the round. The bottom guy could have been throwing great elbows, creating a huge amount of damage, but they just don’t see that.”

Rampage Jackson: Chael Sonnen Is Ruining The Sport, Glover Teixeira Can Save It | UFC NEWS
BJPENN.COM News - October 23, 2012
“His mouth gets his him fights. What’s his name? How do you say his name? ‘Chael?’ His mouth gets his ass in trouble. The dude is exciting for like two minutes, but then you just wanna turn down the volume, like, ‘What the hell you talkin’ about?’ He sounds like he practices his stuff in the mirror, and then he goes out and says it. He’s a great wrestler. That’s all I’m gonna say, ‘cuz everything else sucks. He can’t punch hard. Look what he did to Anderson Silva. He did a great job holding him down, making a boring fighter out of a decorated champion, for five rounds. After the fight, I see that Anderson Silva didn’t have a mark on him. Not a mark.” “I talk trash, but I talk trash about people I’m actually gonna fight — people in my weight class. This guy, he talks trash about ring girls. He talks trash about the President. Now, that’s a little bit too much. He’s very disrespectful. I don’t like the guy. For real. The stuff he says about me. I like to joke around as much as anybody, but, for real, if I see Chael Sonnen, and he says anything to my face, I don’t know if I’m gonna smack him or not. I don’t know. I don’t like the guy.”
