UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is an extremely polarizing figure. While some support Rousey and her ‘tell it like it is’ attitude, others can’t help but turn the other cheek when Rousey occasionally makes a comment that comes across as harsh. While every fighter has critics, Rousey appears to have more than most given her incredible self confidence.

Cyborg is expected to fight at a catchweight of 140 pounds in her upcoming Invicta FC fight, however a date and opponent have yet to be announced.

New Jersey commission to experiment with putting judges in soundproof booths

MMA has had a long history with controversial judge’s decisions and the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board will be testing out a new system in an attempt to reduce judging errors. Three MMA judges will be put in “soundproof isolated rooms” in addition to three cageside judges at the Cage Fury Fighting Championship 52 event on October 31st in Atlantic City, according to MMA Junkie.

Our own BJ Penn was featured in an article from Impact Flow titled “These Four Professional Athletes Should Be In The ‘Giving Back’ Hall of Fame.” The article covered a short list of professional athletes that have uncovered their ability to make a positive difference in the world through their athletic abilities. The article lists athletes such as the NFL’s Richard Sherman, MLB’s Felix Hernandez, and retired NBA player Brian Grant. “The Prodigy” was the only MMA fighter listed.

Jacare confident in his takedown defense ahead of Romero fight

For Ronaldo Jacare Souza and Yoel Romero, this will be the third time the two are scheduled to face off in the cage. After their fight was cancelled twice this year, the two top contenders are looking to battle for a title shot in the middleweight division at UFC 194. Coincidentally, the winner of their fight will get to watch closely as middleweight champion Chris Weidman takes on Luke Rockhold for the title on the same card. Jacare spoke with Portal do Vale Tudo and expressed his confidence in his takedown defense and his submission game if the fight does end up on the ground.

Earlier this year there was heavy speculation as to whether or not former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar would return to the UFC when his contract with the WWE expired. Lesnar, who ultimately re-signed with the WWE, hadn’t fought in the octagon since December of 2011, where he suffered a quick TKO loss to Alistair Overeem and subsequently retired due to his bout with diverticulitis.

Recently during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey stated that she was the highest paid fighter on the UFC roster. Her comments garnered a lot of media attention, especially given that UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor claims he is the highest paid fighter on the UFC roster. During the UFC 193 press conference in Melbourne, a media member brought to Rousey’s attention the pay gap between the Australian women’s soccer team and the Australian men’s soccer team.

Chael Sonnen discusses UFC 200 return rumors

Despite Chael Sonnen announcing his retirement prior to being handed a 2-year suspension from the NSAC back in July of 2014, there has been much speculation as to whether or not Sonnen will return to the sport when his suspension is up. ‘The American Gangster’ recently shut the door on talks of a potential return by saying “I am not coming back.” However that hasn’t stopped anyone from asking the 3-time title challenger if he intends to stay retired.
