Missed Weight, Lost Fight, Pushed Ref And Now Fails Drug Test –– No Really!
BJPENN.COM News - October 15, 2015
I would say things could be worse for this UFC fighter, but man, right now that seems like that’s really not possible. UFC lightweight Francisco Trevino took on newcomer Sage Northcutt at UFC 192. Trevino failed to make weight for the fight, coming in at 160 pounds, but that was just the start. Trevino went into the octagon on Saturday night hoping to shut down the hype train before it even got started. That didn’t happen. Instead he lost to Northcutt in under a minute, suffering a TKO loss.

A New Committee Is Born -- Rule Changes Coming To MMA?
BJPENN.COM News - October 15, 2015
Sean Wheelock, who used to do play-by-play for Bellator, is now the chairman of a brand new MMA rules and regulations committee. Wheelock, who’s a certified boxing referee, was recently given the position by ABC president Mike Mazzulli. The new committee will discuss and take a look at some of the bigger issues in the rules of MMA. For example the 12-to-6 elbow rule. It’s a pretty confusing rule, one that even fighters have a hard time understanding completely.

Back in June of this year UFC heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Matt Mitrione met in the octagon. Things seemed to be going OK for ‘Meathead’ until he went for an ill advised takedown and got caught in a choke. It was reported last week that UFC light heavyweight Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson wanted to fight Ryan Bader. That was what his manager said and Rumble had yet to publicly say anything about Bader. Nick Diaz's Lawyer Responds To The 100,000 Petition Signatures
BJPENN.COM News - October 15, 2015
On Wednesday the MMA community achieved something great by coming together to exceed the required goal of 100K signatures on the official White House petition for Nick Diaz. The petition had until the 16th to get to 100K but after a late rally from MMA fans we were able to smash through the goal and gain even more than the required amount. So what does that mean now? Really no one knows for sure. The standard course is for the petition to be reviewed by White House Staff, than after that an official response should be given. Will it have any real effect on Diaz’s situation? Perhaps not directly, but even Diaz’s lawyer says that achieving the 100K signatures was certainly not for nothing.
