Brian Stann: MMA fighters Are Over Training
BJPENN.COM News - October 8, 2015
I think it’s pretty clear, the less times you get hit in the head the better. I don’t think anyone can argue that. But the debate over MMA training and how hard or not hard you should train continues. The main issue seems to be with sparring. There are those who say that sparring really isn’t necessary once you get to a certain level, and then there are those who say sparring is the only way to get ready for a fight.

McGregor: 'Pettis Is A Fight Pass Fighter'
bjpenndotcom - October 8, 2015
“As far as I’m concerned, he’s back on the Fight Pass events. He’s lower now. … Pettis can say I never fought anybody. But he’s never fought anyone. Who’s he fought, really? He’s fought nobody, as well. His numbers are really, really low. He lost his last fight. That’s a crazy, crazy statement from him in my opinion.”

Alvarez: Dos Anjos Made Pettis Quit, I Will Too
BJPENN.COM News - October 8, 2015
“Pettis is a very skilled fighter with good stand up, and he’s very good at what he does if you allow him the space to do it. This is a fight for me where if I want to take Anthony Pettis down then he’s going down. If I want it to stay on the feet then the fight will stay on the feet. I am going to dictate where this fight is going to go, and going into this fight knowing I can determine the location of where the fight is going to go at any time gives me peace of mind. Now, it’s about going in there and executing. I can get the win for sure just by going in there and doing what Clay Guida did to him, but I really want to make a statement in this fight. I really want to show the rest of the division what I’m capable of and I’m yet to do that. Pettis is the perfect opponent to do that against. I also couldn’t ask for a better location because it’s going down in Boston and I know Philly is going to be there representing strong. It’s going to be my house that night and I love it.” “I heard him say in an interview recently that he wasn’t impressed with my last two fights. That’s ironic because there isn’t a person on Earth who was impressed with his last fight. At least I had a couple people come up to me and say they were impressed with the way I dealt with the adversity of having my orbital broken and was still able to bounce back from that. At least a few people were impressed, but I haven’t heard a single person say they were impressed with Anthony Pettis’ last title defense. He got punched in the face and kind of quit on himself. The way I see this fight shaping up, and knowing what I can do, I think the same thing is going to happen again.”

205 Picture -- Rumble Wants Bader, Bader Wants Cormier
BJPENN.COM News - October 8, 2015
Man, Jon Jones’ return is really messing with the UFC’s light heavyweight division. It went from having a pretty clear set of top contenders and possible title challengers to now having a bunch top guys who aren’t sure what to do. Everyone is waiting to see what happens with the former champ, as his UFC suspension has yet to be lifted, but is expected to be. Most people see it playing out the same. Jones will come back and will get an immediate title fight against the current champ Daniel Cormier. That means that the rest of the division will basically have to be pushed down one notch. As in, if Jones didn’t come back the next title shot would probably go to Ryan Bader who’s on a five fight win streak, but since he likely is, Bader will have to wait his turn and possibly take another fight.
