Shawn Jordan and Ruslan Magomedov fought in a heavyweight bout at UFC 192. Jordan came out walking him down. After they exchanged briefly, Jordan put him on the cage and clinched. Jordan worked for the takedown and got it. Ruslan, with his back on the cage, tried to work his way back to this feet. He almost did before Jordan grabbed his feet and pulled them out from underneath him. Ruslan got to his feet and broke away from Jordan. However, Jordan kept the pressure on, walking him down.

UFC flyweights Joseph Benavidez and Ali Bagautinov met in the octagon in a very important fight for the division. There was a brief feeling out process, then Benavidez blitzed in with a big punch. It didn’t seem to land. They danced around some more and again Benazidez moved in quick with a punch. That seemed to be a plan, to explode with quick attacks. Ali landed a nice leg kick. Benavidez moved in, for what looked like a takedown, Ali sprawled and caught Ben and cut him open. Ali looked to only counter, and didn’t throw much as far as offensive strikes go. Benavidez’s cut was right on his eyebrow.

In the first fight on the main card UFC bantamweights Jessica Eye and Julianna Pena met in the octagon. These girls came out swinging. Both fighters seemed fine with just throwing down. They eventually clinched up and Eye got Pena to the ground, but not for long. They stood back up and Pena put Eye on the cage, but Eye reversed and took the advantage in the clinch. Eye kept the pressure on, landing knees. Pena tried to separated and land big strikes. They clinched again and Pena got Eye down for a moment, she tried to land big elbows. Eye got up and put Pena on the cage in the clinch. Pena reversed and got a trip takedown. From side control she landed a few big elbows before the round ended.

In the featured preliminary fight, Daniel Hooker took on Yair Rodriguez. Th fight started and it took about 35 seconds for anyone to land anything. It was a leg kick from Yair. Hooker was using a lot of movement from side to side, while Yair just kept coming forward. Yair threw a few big spinning kicks, bit missed. Eventually Hooker moved in for a clinch, and got Yair on the cage. From there he worked for a takedown. The fight went down briefly after a trip, but the fight went back to the feet moments later.

In the second fight on FS1’s UFC 192 prelim coverage, Islam Makhachev and Adriano Martins met in the octagon. Both fighters came out looking to feel each other out for a good 25 seconds, than Islam threw a few big punches. Islam kept coming forward, throwing massive swinging punches, but missing. He stayed on him though, keeping the forward pressure.

Kicking off the FS1 prelims for UFC 192 were the strawweights, with Rose Namajunas taking on Angela Hill, both cast members from TUF 20. These girls wasted no time and came out fast. Rose liked to land her long jab early. they both started scrapping, throwing big punches at each other. Hill tried to clinch up during the exchanges but wasn’t very successful. Then Rose grabbed Hill and look for a throw but Hill defended. They separated and threw some more leather.

In a highly anticipated debut, Sage Northcutt entered the octagon for the first time and took on Francisco Trevino. Sage came out with a nice side kick. Trevino came in with a kick, got caught, or slipped and went down.

In the second fight of the night the flyweights faced off when Sergio Pettis took on former title challenger Chris Cariaso. Early on in the fight Cariaso threw a body kick, Pettis caught it, then kicked his other leg out from under him. Cariaso went down and Pettis went down and took top control. Cariaso was able to get back to his feet. They went back to striking. Cariaso started landing some really nice body kicks. Pettis started landing his jab often. Pettis landed a really nice right hand. The, just moments later, Pettis dropped Cariaso with another right hand. Pettis jumped all over him, throwing a huge flurry of punches from top position. Cariaso was hurt but he managed to survive the round.

UFC 192 goes down Saturday night in Houston, TX and should be an exciting night of fights. We’ve got two very important fights in the light heavyweight division going down, between former champ Rashad Evans and Ryan Bader, than in the main event, for the UFC title, champ Daniel Cormier will take on challenger Alexander Gustafsson. Also on the main card will be a scrap between Ali Bagautinov and Joseph Benavidez and a women’s bantamweight fight between Jessica Eye and Julianna Pena.

Man, who knew that cutting weight could also make you shorter? I mean, from the looks of things UFC light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson just lost a foot or so of height and is now looking up to UFC reporter Megan Olivi. Now, I’m not sure about exact numbers here, but I’m pretty sure Olivi is somewhere in the five foot something range, while Gustafsson is listed as 6’5. Must have been a brutal weight cut, maybe they shaved a few inches off the bottom of his feet so he could make the 205 limit.

Man, some fans are really taking the news of UFC 192’s co-main event being canceled pretty hard. As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, the welterweight fight between Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley, scheduled for UFC 192 on Saturday night, was canceled after Hendricks had an issue with his weight cut.

Alright this seems to crazy to be true. Obviously there are people out there who have identical tattoos, it’s almost impossible for duplicates not to happen, I mean, how many guys have you seen with basically the same trial arm band? Exactly. But this tops all of those by being the craziest. UFC strawweight Bec Rawlings just recently got some new ink, a giant head tattoo of a jaguar? I think it’s a jaguar. It takes up the whole side of her head and it super colorful and one of those tattoos that screams out, ‘look at me!’

UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey just keeps the achievements coming. On Friday a new promo was released by Ellen DeGeneres, showing Rousey as a child, growing up to be the fighter she is today and now today it’s come out that she is the first women to ever grace the cover of ‘Men’s Fitness’ Magazine. Make sure you fully take that in, the first women ever, not athlete, or UFC fighter, but first women ever, period.

Currently, retired UFC fighter Chris Leben is serving a 120 day stint in jail. Leben entered the jail on Sept. 21 and has since been keeping fans updated with social media posts pretty frequently. Leben was sentenced to 120 days after pleading guilty to breaking into his ex-wife’s apartment back in June.
