Peralta vs. Payan Added To UFC 168
A featherweight matchup has been added to the UFC’s year-end show in the form of Robert Peralta (pictured) versus Estevan Payan.
UFC officials announced the pairing this afternoon.
UFC 168 is set to go down on December 28 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event plays host to two title fight rematches in Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman II and Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate II.
For Peralta this is a shot at redemption after being forced on the shelf for six-months following a failed drug test for marijuana. Adding insult to injury, the featherweight hadn’t tasted defeat in 10-straight fighters until that night in April against Akira Corassani.
Payan is another man in need of a win before the year is up. He last saw actin in his UFC debut at UFC 160 where he dropped a decision to Jeremy Stephens. The defeat was his first since winning eight-straight, including victories in Bellator and Strikeforce.
With the addition the UFC 168 card looks as follows:
Champ Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva – for UFC middleweight title
Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate – for women’s bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Fabricio Camoes vs. Jim Miller
Uriah Hall vs. Chris Leben
Michael Johnson vs. Gleison Tibau
Manny Gamburyan vs. Dennis Siver
William Macario vs. Bobby Voelker
Shane Del Rosario vs. Guto Inocente
Siyar Bahadurzada vs. John Howard
Estevan Payan vs. Robbie Peralta
