Phil Davis vs. Glover Teixeira Booked For UFC 179 In Brazil

UFC 179 has a highly anticipated matchup for its co-main event. Phil Davis will meet former title challenger Glover Teixeira. Rumors of the bout had been circling for some time, but now the bout has been made official for UFC 179: Aldo vs. Mendes.

Phil Davis was riding a three fight win streak over Wagner Prado, Vinny Magalhae, and Lyoto Machida before dropping a unanimous decision loss to Anthony Johnson at UFC 172 back in April.

He will meet former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Glover Teixeira, who is fresh off a unanimous decision loss to Jon Jones back in April. Prior to that he was riding a 20-fight win streak, including 5 wins under the UFC banner that saw him defeat Kyle Kingsbury, Fabio Maldonado, Quinton Jackson, James Te Huna, and Ryan Bader before losing to Jones.

The winner of this bout will surely be thrown into the 205-pound title picture.
