Rampage: “I’ll Always Look Up to Anderson Silva”
“I look up to Anderson Silva no matter what,” Jackson told members of the media ahead of UFC 186. “The guy is coming off one of the worst injuries known to man, stuff like that, and he’s older. When I heard that (he tested positive) I wished it wasn’t true.”
Anderson Silva has been through a lot in the past year. “The Spider” was once viewed as the perfect fighter: An amazing championship defense streak, clean drug tests and provider of exciting fights. However with all the recent events going on in Silva’s life, people are starting to view him differently.
Anderson Silva lost his UFC Middleweight Championship to Chris Weidman in controversial fashion and he earned an immediate rematch. For the first time ever, Silva walked into the bout as the challenger without the gold around his waist.
While trying to win his title back from Weidman, Silva shattered his leg and lost the bout and about nine months of his fighting career. He returned to the octagon in winning fashion against Nick Diaz earlier this year, but it was revealed he failed his pre-fight drug test due to performance enhancing drugs.
Even after all of that, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson still looks up to Anderson Silva. At “UFC 186” press junket, Jackson confessed his view of “The Spider” hasn’t changed one bit.
