Reign Founder Mark Munoz Hanging Them Up For His Kids
Mark Munoz has had a decorated career as a mixed martial artist, but he intends to hang up his gloves after his bout at UFC Fight Night 66 in the Philippines so he can spend more time with his children.
Munoz recently told MMAJunkie that he wants to be there for his four children now that his career is coming to an end. “I’m dead set on this being my last fight. It’s a decision I made. For me it’s about my family. These past six years have gone by so fast. My oldest daughter, she’s 15. It’s been a long time (that) I’ve been in the UFC. It’s been six years. Since I’ve been in mixed martial arts it’s been seven years. So pretty much half her life I’ve been competing in mixed martial arts. I’m getting emotional even thinking about the times and special moments I’ve missed with her. I don’t want to make the same mistake with my three younger children.”
Munoz has lost four of his last five fights, the most recent loss coming at the hands of Roan Carneiro. Lyoto Machida dealt the knockout that started Munoz’s current three fight skid, but he has a chance at leaving with a win if he can defeat Luke Barnatt at UFC Fight Night 66.
