Report: Anthony Pettis Cleared To Resume Training
By Evan Stoumbelis
UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis has been cleared to train boxing and Jiu-Jitsu, as well as begin strength and conditioning for his rehabilitated knee, according to Pettis’ head coach Duke Roufus.
The TUF 20 Coach tore his meniscus back in June after accepting a bout against Jose Aldo for the featherweight title. After recovering from the injury Pettis fought Benson Henderson for the lightweight championship and won, tearing his PCL in the process of training. The initial diagnosis said Pettis would not need surgery, but further examination showed he would, and so he did.
Now Pettis begins his recovery back to the octagon leading up to a coaching stint on TUF 20 opposite Gilbert Melendez, who Pettis will be fighting after the show ends.
