Ronda Rousey reveals her decision with the talk of switching camps and coaches
A lot of people were quick to point fingers at Edmond Tarverdyan after Ronda Rousey was knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193. A fellow world champion and team have extended an invitation to Rousey to join their camp. Critics and fellow fighters have had their opinions that she had the wrong game plan. Advice from Tarverdyan going into round two, many thought was atrocious. Even Rousey’s mother who is a World Judo Championship gold medalist has voiced her very strong opinion on her disagreement of Tarverdyan being her daughter’s coach.
Ronda Rousey, however, feels otherwise. ESPN the Magazine released Rousey’s first interview since losing the UFC women’s bantamweight belt to Holly Holm and revealed her decision on her camp and coach.
“Of course I’m staying [with Tarverdyan],” Rousey says. “That’s my mom’s opinion, not mine.”
Tarverdyan spoke on working with Rousey and moving forward.
“We didn’t create this in one day, and it’s not going to be taken away from us, from me, from her, from anybody in one day,” Tarverdyan says. “Whatever happens in her career or in her life, we didn’t do all this shit for it to be taken away from us. In life, things are going to be taken away from you. But we always believe in each other. We’re strong next to each other. Being united and being strong helps you get through a lot in this world.”
