Rousey To Be First Female Athlete EVER To Co-Host SportsCenter

It seems like we’re writing one of these posts everyday, or at least every week, about how UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is breaking down walls and achieving new heights of world domination.

Today’s big news? Rousey will be appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter as a guest co-host. She will be making history for the UFC, MMA, women, Athletes and ESPN with her appearance. It will be the first time ever that a female athlete, in any sport, will serve as co-host. Not just the first time for a fighter, or a female fighter, but for any female athlete. That’s pretty big.

A press release from ESPNmediazone.com revealed the news and had a statement from the champ:

“I’m excited to co-host SportsCenter with Lindsay on Wednesday. I’ve always appreciated the support ESPN has shown me and I’m honored to be the first female celebrity co-host!”

The appearance will take place on Oct. 7 and she’ll also appear on some of ESPN’s other programing:

It will be a week of iconic TV show appearances for Rousey with her SportsCenter spot coming on the heels of Tuesday night’s scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. In addition to the 6 p.m. SportsCenter, Rousey’s Bristol, Conn. visit will include appearances on Mike & Mike, First Take and the midnight SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt.
