Rousey’s Judo coach promises she will be back to “mark her legacy”
Following Ronda Rousey’s devastating UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm this past Saturday there was much speculation as to if and when Rousey would step back in the Octagon.
The day after the loss Rousey released a statement through Instagram revealing that she would be taking some time off, but would indeed be back.
Rousey’s longtime Judo coach Justin Flores spoke to MMAJunkie about the loss, and why he is sure Rousey will be back stronger.
“It’s been a surreal few days,”
“I think she’ll be able to pull it all back together. It’s just that timeline, I think, may not be as quick as in judo past just because of the toll it’s takes physically. But there’s no doubt in my mind she’ll come back.”
“I have seen Ronda lose many times over the years at the highest level of judo competition first-hand, which is a dangerous thing for her future opponents. I promise she will be back and make all the necessary adjustments after regrouping.
“Look out MMA world. Every great hero has trials and tribulations and loss – it’s how she recovers and comes back that will mark her legacy as the greatest of all time. Mark my words.”
There has been much talk of an immediate rematch, and while Daniel Cormier doesn’t believe Rousey is ready for an immediate rematch, UFC President Dana White says it ‘makes sense’.
He will be meeting with the former champ later next week, but MMA won’t be on the agenda.
