Roy Nelson envisions a future career in politics

By Chris Taylor - February 5, 2014

UFC Heavyweight contender, Roy “Big Country” Nelson, recently spoke with Bloodyelbow‘s Steph Daniels about his desire to have a future career in politics.

His words:

“I definitely envision myself in politics at some point. I was just looking at 2014 and 2016 tickets and what official positions are up for election. I’m good friends with Ross Miller who is Nevada’s Secretary of State, and I have other ties to the community in a political sense. I even helped out with former governor, Kenny Guinn’s campaign several years back. I’m more than a fighter, and not just a pretty face [laughs].”

Roy Nelson had recently made headlines by applying for Keith Kizer’s former position as executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which “Big Country” insisted was not a publicity stunt.

Nelson’s NSAC application did not sit well with his current boss, UFC president Dana White, who called Roy a moron for his actions.

I wonder what the fight bosses reaction will be to this news… Regardless of what Dana thinks, what’s most important is what do you think Penn Nation. Would you like to see Roy Nelson in politics when he is done with the fight game? Sound off!
