“Rumble” Johnson speaks out on aftermath of “ugly” online rant
UFC light heavyweight top-contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson found himself in trouble with the UFC earlier in August when he posted an online-rant about an incident he had with an “ugly” woman at a local gym. While the UFC admitted to being disappointed in Johnson, he was never suspended when they ran a third-party-investigation. Johnson has since apologized to the woman he offended on his rant and agreed to participate in counseling.
“Rumble” recently sat down with UFC.COM and discussed the aftermath of this controversial incident:
“They did what they needed to do,” Johnson said. “They did an investigation, but I knew from the start I didn’t attack anybody, I didn’t do anything (except post) some stupid stuff on Facebook, and that was it. Whatever I need to get off my chest. They say I need counseling so I’ll do the counseling. Something good has to come out of it. I’m human,” he said. “Every day can’t be perfect. I’ve never said I was an angel, and I’ll never be an angel. I am myself. I don’t feel like I have anything to prove. As long as my friends and family know who I am and they support me and love me, I sleep very well at night.”
“Rumble” is looking for redemption in the form of a victory over his next opponent Jimi Manuwa. The two will meet at “UFC 191” in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 5th. Who do you think will walk out of the octagon with their hands raised? If “Rumble” wins, do you think he deserves another shot at the championship? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
