Sarah Kaufman vs. Shayna Baszler set for TUF Nations Finale in Quebec City

By Chris Taylor - February 9, 2014

Sarah Kaufman (16-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Shayna Baszler  (15-8 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is the latest additions to April’s “TUF Nations Finale” event in Quebec City. UFC officials announced the women’s bantamweight booking yesterday afternoon.

Canadian Sarah Kaufman will fight for the second time under the UFC banner this April. Her promotional debut came against Jessica Eye at UFC 166, where she suffered a split-decision loss. However, the bouts ruling was eventually overturned to a no-contest, this after Eye failed her post-fight drug test. The former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion, Kaufman, will be looking to get her first promotional win on home soil, when she competes against Baszler this April in Quebec City.

Meanwhile,  “TUF 18” contestant Shayna Baszler will also be looking to earn her first career octagon win when she makes her promotional debut against Kaufman this April.  “The Queen of Spades” was defeated by eventual  “TUF 18” winner, Julianna Pena, in the shows quarterfinals. Prior to being a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter Season 18,” Baszler competed for Invicta Fighting Championships, where she went 1-2.

This will be the second time that Kaufman and Baszler have squared off. Their first meeting was back in 2009 at the “Strikeforce: Challengers 2” event, which Kaufman won via unanimous decision.

The ‘TUF Nations: Finale’ takes place on April 16 live from the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Canada. The event is headlined by a middleweight bout between Michael “The Count” Bisping and Tim Kennedy. The evenings main card will air live on FOX Sports 1.
