Tate: ‘I’m not the champion, but I’m fighting better girls’ than Rousey

Miesha “Cupcake” Tate was told by Dana White after her win at “UFC on FOX 16” in July that she would be next in line to challenge Ronda Rousey for her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. However, “Rowdy” dropped a bomb on the MMA community and caught everyone off guard when she announced she would be stepping into the octagon with Holly Holm next.

The fight is set to take place at “UFC 193” in Melbourne, Australia and is on pace to break the company’s attendance record. Tate isn’t too pleased with how her situation was handled and is upset that she is fighting more elite competition but is not getting compensated as if she was the champion.

“I am very frustrated with the UFC. I am not in a position where I feel like I need to be pushed around. Like, ‘you take this fight, you take that fight’. It makes no sense to me,” Tate told GNP1.de. “I am not the champion, yet I am fighting all the number-one contenders. And Nunes is ranked number four in the world, Holm number eight in the world. What is wrong with that picture? I am not the champion, yet I am fighting better girls than the champion is fighting, and I am not getting paid what the champion’s getting paid. That is the champion’s job to fight the best girls in the world. So when I am the champion, then we will talk.”

Tate is on the run of her career with four straight victories over the likes of Jessica Eye, Sara McMann and Liz Carmouche. While Rousey and Holm have a date set for their fight, Tate has yet to hear about her next fight. Who do you think should step into the octagon with Tate next?
