The UFC Loses Again In Anti-Trust Lawsuit

Just last week, the judge in the UFC’s anti-trust lawsuit ruled against a motion for dismissal, thus allowing the case to move forward.

Now, according to BloodyElbow’s John Nash, the UFC has lost another battle in the case and the judge has ruled that they cannot stop plaintiffs attorney Rob Maysey from viewing their highly confidential financial and business information.

That’s pretty huge. The UFC wanted to try to keep all their undisclosed information private, but it looks like that won’t be the case. Maysey will be able to go through all of it now. Zuffa tried to argue that Maysey, who in addition to being the lawyer for the plaintiffs is also the founder of the Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Association (MMAFA), was a competitor and shouldn’t be able to view the private information. Well, they lost that fight.

Here’s a statement from Maysey following the ruling:

“Zuffa’s attempt to deny plaintiffs and plaintiffs’ counsel of choice full participation in this case was denied. I look forward to doing my job and we will continue to vigorously advocate for our clients. With that goal in mind we have assembled a team of amongst the best attorneys in the United States.”

This process will now move forward with discovery and that is going to take a long time. We’ll keep you updated as new information comes from the case.
