‘There Aren’t Many People in the World That Can Beat Me’
Matt Mitrione is looking to make his way into the top ten after this weekend when he goes toe-to-toe with fellow heavyweight Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 68. The two are set to co main-event the card New Orleans, Louisiana and if Mitrione can get another win, it’ll be four in a row for “Meathead”.
“I feel like I’m really damn good right now. I feel like I’ve been really good for the last little bit, and I feel like I’m only getting better,” Mitrione said on the MMA Hour. “Like this camp, all my training partners, my coaches, even Chris — my mentor — but is extremely honest with me. They’re like, ‘Look dude, you look better than you’ve ever looked before.’ Takedown defense, striking, creativity wise, grappling, transitions, everything. I feel like I’m better than I’ve ever been. I’m not brand new, I’m not new and improved, I’ve just gotten better overall, every single time.”
Mitrione isn’t lying when he says he’s been getting better every time he fights. In his last three fights, Mitrione has finished Shawn Jordan, Derrick Lewis and Gabriel Gonzaga in the very first round. If he can knock Rothwell out in dominant fashion, he may make his way into the top ten.
Do you think Matt Mitrione will be able take a crack at the title eventually?
